The JTEw heavy assault tank, also known as the Juggernaut Tactical Enforcer and nicknamed the wheeled AT-TE, was an experimental wheeled tank utilized by the Grand Army of the Republic late in the Clone Wars and later by the Imperial Army. The JTEw used the hull of an All Terrain Tactical Enforcer but wheels like the HAVw A6 Juggernaut.
Characteristics[]
The JTEw heavy assault tank used a body similar to the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer, but was equipped with eight wheels instead of the six legs the AT-TE walker had. The wheels of the tank allowed it to travel far faster than the AT-TE, although it could not scale vertical surfaces nor magnetize to metal as the AT-TE could. The wheels were still capable of traversing almost any terrain, although the JTEw had a high center of gravity which allowed the vehicle to easily roll over. The prototype version of the JTEw heavy assault tank lacked any weapons, but production models would be equipped with the same weapons as the AT-TE, six anti-personnel laser cannon turrets and one mass-driver cannon.
History[]
The first prototype of the JTEw heavy assault tank was built by Rothana Heavy Engineering in 20 BBY. The prototype was slightly smaller than an AT-TE and was not equipped with weapons, although it proved to be capable of quickly traversing rough terrain and was a useful transport. However, many Republic military leaders did not believe the JTEw had much potential, and they believed that since the AT-TE and HAVw A6 Juggernaut already existed, the JTEw heavy assault tank was unnecessary. Despite this, a small amount of JTEw heavy assault tanks were still produced and saw limited action late in the Clone Wars. Following the transition of the Republic into the Galactic Empire, the Imperial Army utilized JTEw tanks.
Behind the scenes[]
The JTEw heavy assault tank is inspired by a mod from the game BeamNG.drive, a game that has nothing to do with Star Wars, but the creator of this article sometimes plays BeamNG and had an idea to make a fanon article about the mod. The mod vehicle is smaller than an AT-TE and lacks weapons, so it is the prototype model.
