The Inarii (singular also "Inarii") were a non-sentient species of predatory avians native to Korratoa, the moon of a dead planet in the Unknown Regions.

Biology and appearance

Inarii were carnivores and would prey on anything they could find, but demonstrated a particular fondness for the flesh of the native, sentient En'kah. They had wings broad and powerful enough to enable them to carry off En'kah children, and sharp talons which could slice En'kah flesh with ease. They also had sufficiently sharp and powerful teeth to break a teenage Human's arm bones, although their bites were not poisonous. They had at least six vertebrae in their necks.

Inarii were swarm predators, usually attacking in groups, and were not easily dissuaded by the deaths of some of their number.

Cultural impact

The En'kah believed the Inarii to be a curse inflicted by their god, En'kah'Nahori, as an expression of his wrath. They also ritually sacrificed "feral" En'kah—those who could shapeshift fully into lycanthrope forms—to the Inarii.

Behind the scenes

Ahrrie created the Inarii as part of her development of Kavasi; she granted Sakaros permission to publish this article on her behalf.
