The Imperial Army was the main ground military component of the Galactic Empire. They were formed from all non-clone units of the Grand Army of the Republic after Emperor Palpatine's change of the Galactic Republic to the Empire. It was made up of Imperial Army troopers, land Assault troopers, and Imperial Army Pilots. They were backed up by Stormtroopers, but they still served the Stormtrooper Corps, not the Army. It was lead by the Army Chief of Staff and the Army Command on Bastion.
