Iden Vanicus was a Human female politician who served as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic.
Biography[]
Iden Vanicus was born two years after the end of the Jedi Civil War into the politically influential Vanicus family. The granddaughter of Orley Vanicus, a war hero who had fought in the Great Sith War half a century prior to her birth, Iden was pressured into pursuing a political career by her family, who had high hopes for her exceeding the expectations that were inherent to her family's name. By 3935 BBY, she was attending the University of Byblos, where she met and started a relationship with Vaner Shan, son of the famous Jedi Revan and Bastila Shan.
After graduating from Byblos, Vanicus and Shan drifted apart as a couple before splitting things off in order to focus on their careers, though they would remain close friends. Over the course of the next three decades, Vanicus climbed up the political ladder and eventually attained a position in the Republic's Ministry of State. In 3900 BBY, she ran for Supreme Chancellor and ended up campaigning against her ex-lover Vaner Shan. While she ultimately won the chancellery, Shan remained a political ally of hers for the duration of her chancellorship. When she was elected for a second term in 3896 BBY, she appointed Shan to a position in her cabinet, a move which stirred rumors among members of the Senate who were privy to the former couple's past relationship.
After finishing her second term in 3892 BBY, Vanicus retired from the political scene and settled down on her homeworld of Corulag to spend her remaining years with her children and grandchildren.
