Humans, taxonomically known as Homo sapiens and anciently known as Coruscanti, were the most numerous and politically dominant sentient species in the galaxy, with millions of colonies across the galaxy.
Believed to have originated on Coruscant, humanity colonized millions of world from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim. By 4000 BBY, Humans formed a plurality, if not an outright majority, of all sentient beings in the galaxy, and during the course of galactic history many galactic governments were dominated by Humans.
Many dozens of species were descended from Humans, these species were called Near-Human.
