When the Rakata Infinite Empire fell, it left Trandosha in a state of disarray. For the next eight years, the Trandoshans persisted in a state of tribalism. The Hsskhor Tribe became the most prominent tribe, leading efforts in both the formation of a planet wide military and space travel capabilities.
In the same year the Trandoshans reached the planet's moons, they discovered indications of nearby sentient life in the computers of the Rakatan ships. In response, the tribes officially united into the Hsskhor Syndicate, organized around the Hsskhor tribe. As a first act, they commissioned the formation of an army and navy.
Operating out of the newly colonized moon Wasskah, Wasskah Shipyards began production of the naval fleet so the Syndicate could begin exploration beyond Dosha. At the behest of the Syndicate's leaders, they comprised the fleet almost entirely of Ashkrik-class fighters and Byager-class destroyers. Over the next several years, the fleet continued to expand at the hand of Wasskah Shipyards.
Wary of the Rakata, exploration beyond Dosha was initially hesitate. However, Rakatan computers indicated sentient life nearby, as well as a large Rakatan outpost. Believing the rewards of capturing this outpost out weighed the dangers involved in seeking it out, the Hsskhor Syndicate sent their first transport ships to the nearby planet of Kashyyyk in 10 AFRE.
In the same year, the Syndicate began annexation of Phindar, Charros, Ubrikkia, and Umbara. The Phindians joined the Syndicate willingly, adding their support to the economy and military of the Syndicate. Similarly, the unpopulated Charros and Ubrikkia were colonized peacefully, with Ubrikkia proving to be useful for it's raw materials. While the Annexation of Umbara involved minimal conflict, the world became an invaluable asset to the Syndicate as the Umbarans had developed better stealth technologies which the Trandoshans were able to adapt for their ships and personal stealth units.
In 11 AFRE, the Syndicate spread beyond Phindar to Taanab and beyond Charros to Bimmisaari. The Bimms were another species willing to join the Syndicate, largely due to the technological superiority of the Trandoshans. During and beyond the annexation of Bimmisaari, the Bimms became a plentiful source of fodder for the military. Mandatory conscript was introduced to Bimmisaari, forcing every Bimm, once of age, to serve a limited term in the military.
When the Trandoshans first arrived on Kashyyyk in 10 AFRE, they attempted to peacefully negotiate with the native Wookiees. However, communication between the species was difficult and slow. As annexation of other worlds continued with fewer complications, irritation with the Wookiees rose. Hostilities broke out between the Trandoshans and the Wookiees in 11 AFRE, resulting in skirmishes across the planet. The conflict continued for the next several years without any clear indication of a victor.
The Hsskhor Syndicate sought out as many ways to win the conflict as possible. In 12 AFRE, they began spreading the Trandoshan religion to colony worlds, hoping this would increase voluntary enlistment. Although effective in increasing Phindian numbers in the armed forces, this did little to resolve the conflict.
The mandatory conscription of Bimms was equally as visible, but just as moot. The turning point in the conflict came about when Wasskah Shipyards released the Umbar-class stealth bombers, which used the annexed Umbarans' stealth technologies. Coupled with elite Trandoshan units equipped with stealth field emitters, the Hsskhor Syndicate was finally able to force a treaty in 15 AFRE. Minor hostilities persisted beyond that date, even once Kashyyyk was officially annexed.
In 11 AFRE, even as the Hsskhor Syndicate was dealing with the Hsskhor-Kashyyyk Conflict, they continued expansion. As annexation of Bimmisaari began, the colony on Charros encountered Sith League scouts. Sith ambassadors met with Syndicate diplomats on Charros to discuss an alliance between the two interstellar civilizations. This meeting, the Charros Convention, marked the first major diplomatic event in the history of the Hsskhor Syndicate.
As the Syndicate was fearful of a second war, they sent Byager destroyers to reinforce the Syndicate's position on the world. Nevertheless, an agreement was reached. The Sith proposed a defensive alliance and trade terms with the Syndicate. Additionally, they proposed a demilitarized zone along the Denarii Nebula, with expansion by each civilization limited to their side of zone.
The Syndicate agreed to the terms of the Sith, so long as they withdrew the Reach of the Sith from Syndicate space. The Sith agreed, and the two powers signed the Charros Accord. This officially established a defensive alliance and trade deal between the Hsskhor Syndicate and the Sith League. Following the convention, Charros became a large hub for trade and commerce between the two civilizations.
As the alliance between the two governments solidified, there became the need for easier communication. To this end, the Hammer of the Gods Sith fleet escorted Syndicate diplomats to the Korriban Gates in 13 AFRE. The new Sith Queen Rhea visited the embassy in 14 AFRE, pledging her continued loyalty to the alliance.
Meeting the Republic
Syndicate expansion continued to planets such as Klatooine, Azure, Quesh, Ruusan, and Thisspias. However, Syndicate scouts encountered the Transitory Mists in 14 AFRE. Having successfully ended the Hsskhor-Kashyyyk Conflict, scout ships began going farther out again in 15 AFRE. Even as efforts to discover a path through the Mists continued and the Transitory fleet was put together, Syndicate scouts discovered the Galactic Republic.
The Republic was in the process of colonizing Manaan. Syndicate diplomats made contact with the Republic, acknowledging the government. They informed the Republic that any movement beyond the O-10 diagonal would be considered a hostile attack on Syndicate space, but as a show of good faith agreed to leave Manaan to the Republic. After much debate in the Senate, the Republic agree to the terms, given they could send scout ships for the purpose of mapping space. The Syndicate consented, and the two civilizations began a tense coexistence.
In 14 AFRE, the Syndicate discovered the Transitory Mists. Over the year, they searched for a viable path through the Mists, eventually discovering a potential way. Throughout 15 AFRE, they continued tests and preparations, including assembly of the Transitory fleet. In 16 AFRE, the fleet traversed the Mists.
Beyond, the Syndicate encountered the Hapes Consortium. Eager to take control of the new territory, the Syndicate declared war on the Consortium. The Sith League declared public support of the war and even sent reinforcement to their allies. As the first act of the war, the Transitory fleet began the orbital bombardment of Charubah, with the message that they would only cease upon the unconditional surrender of the Hapans.
When the Consortium refused, the Syndicate continued bombardment until the colony on Charubah was eradicated. With this done, they began the bombardment of Terephon, but ceased as the Consortium caved to the demands of the Syndicate. The war officially ended in 17 AFRE. The Syndicate took over colonization of worlds and repurposed the Consortium's assets. Additionally, they introduced mandatory conscription to the Consortium worlds, but they withheld the rights of citizenship. Instead, they offered the possibility once the worlds were officially annexed, should the Hapans be cooperative.
In addition to the effects of the war on Consortium space, the war also opened new dialogues between the Syndicate and the Sith League. Appreciative of the League's support, Syndicate ambassadors suggested talks of a heightened alliance. The League agreed, proposing a meeting the following year on Saleucami.
Eastern Galactic Coalition
In 18 AFRE, the Syndicate met with the Sith League on Saleucami, commencing the Saleucami Convention. Through talks over the course of the year, the two galactic powers agreed to create an intergovernmental military alliance for mutual protection and expansion. The Saleucami Accord was signed, and the two powers became military allies.
To this end, they formed the Eastern Galactic Coalition, which served as a peacekeeping force throughout Syndicate and League space. For the security and stability of the EGC, the Syndicate and the League jointly began colonization of Saleucami. The planet served as the base of the EGC.
Following the formation of the EGC, the Sith League and the Hsskhor Syndicate were approached by the Byssian Empire. The League suggested they meet on the neutral world of Taris for a diplomatic convention. The Syndicate was wary of of another military alliance but nonetheless traveled to the Taris Convention. There, they proposed open trade with the Empire and a defensive alliance. However, they caveated this alliance with the terms that any act of aggression undertaken by the Empire against the Sith League or the Eastern Galactic Coalition would be taken as an act of aggression against the Syndicate and result in the alliance's immediate dissolution.
The Byssian Empire accepted the Syndicate's terms, as well as reaching an accord with the Sith League. All three powers signed the Treaty of Taris, creating the primarily defensive Triple Alliance.
The Hsskhor Syndicate's official religion was that of the Trandoshans, Jagannath. A monotheistic religion, the main tenets were belief in the Scorekeeper, a supreme being existing beyond the galaxy. It was believed she kept a balance of all beings' lives, weighing the honorable and good against the cowardly and evil.
The Trandoshans were completely devoted to the religion. They viewed active participation in the military and the government as honored ways to receive Jagannath points and gain favor with the Scorekeeper. The Syndicate spread their beliefs to the colonized worlds. Many species embraced the Trandoshan culture, including Jagannath as a new religion, such as the Phindians and Bimms. However, other species were less than enthusiastic about embracing a new religion. The Umbarans in particular were willing to join the Syndicate, but few members of the species accepted Jagannath as a religion.
Behind the scenes
The Hsskhor Syndicate was created by SavageOpress1138 for the game A New Dawn on Star Wars Fanon. The name is an homage to the Crime Syndicate of DC Comics. Parts of the Trandoshans were inspired by the Trandoshans in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2.
