House Ahlcain of Sal Romo was one of the principal Kolkans of Gargan's Empire. It governed the planet of Sal Romo from their historic ancestral capital city of Romo City. The Ahlcains invested heavily in the Gargan Corporate Union and controlled approximately thirty-three percent of Sal Romo Cyberware.
The Ahlcains were orthodox and conservative supporters of the Cult of Ur and were generally regarded as secretive. They supplemented the Temple of the Dreamers with most of its guards, as it was custom with younger members of the family to be trained as Cult templars. Claiming kinship to the seat of the Gargan itself through its legendary founder, Gargan the Conqueror, House Ahlcain dominated religious authority in the Empire since time immemorial. Many of the historic Order of Gargan members hailed from the Ahlcain line and held prominent positions in the ecclesiastical hierarchy.
The Ahlcain coat-of-arms was the purported face of Gargan the Conqueror himself. Members of the bloodline often had auburn-colored or red hair. Within the Landsmeet, the Ahlcain were regarded as religious zealots - even by Imperial standards - and were generally seen as secretive, xenophobic, elitist and fanatic. They were often at odds with their historic rivals, House Serrin, stemming from differing views on religious reform and social liberties.
Culture[]
Members of House Ahlcain tended to have auburn or ginger hair and a fair skin. Like all other Tyrrhans, their eyes were colored purple.
The Ahlcains were believed to be some of the most devout followers of the Cult of Ur. Others described them as radical, fundamentalist, and ultraconservative in their worship of the religion. The Ahlcains were extremely proud of their descent from Gargan the Conqueror, whom they viewed as their House's founder. The Ahlcains followed the Red Sun Scrolls to the letter, even going so far as to interpret its parables and allegories literally. The Ahlcains had long supplemented the Cult of Ur with most of its priests and clerics. They always sent their Force-sensitive children to the Temple of the Dreamers almost immediately after birth.
The Ahlcain planet, Sal Romo, operated a strict isolationist policy as a result of rampant xenophobia in the family. The Ahlcains treated outsiders, even other Tyrrhans, with disdain and disgust. This meant that they were ill-liked among the nobility, especially with the more liberal and gregarious Houses such as House Serrin or House Astardi. The Ahlcains were self-righteous and regarded other interperations of the state religion as heretical. It was known that House Ahlcain frequently lobbied for religious crusades against the Empire's neighbors and were fanatic participants in the Gargan Conquests.
Insulting or criticising Gargan the Conqueror was considered extremely offensive to an Ahlcain.
