Holographic Versatile Discs, or HVDs, were an entertainment medium that was invented circa 400 BBY, and would remain popular for centuries. They were usually discs with holographic films recorded on them, and could be played on a HVD player. The first HVDs were either black-and-white or of poor quality, but by the Battle of Yavin, they were considered the highest-quality holographic viewing material in the galaxy. They were considered somewhat obsolete by 130 ABY.

Behind the scenesEdit

HVDs are based on real-world DVDs.
