Hector Azimuth, later known as the Black Baron, was a human male admiral born on Aradan. Born into the House of Azimuth, he became the designated heir of the house, being the only son. Hector entered service with Lord Admiral Norven Loyaler's warlord faction, the Aradan Union in 4 ABY. Hector gained command of the Greyhound, a Venator-class which would serve as his flagship.
Upon Norven's presumed demise in 7 ABY, Hector abandoned the Aradan Union and chose to become a pirate, using his fleet to pillage and plunder in the Chommell sector, near Naboo. Later that year however, he would join forces with warlord Olyver Baines, a former colleague of Norven. In his service, Hector would establish the Criminal Court, a band of smugglers, bounty hunters and pirates.
In 12 ABY, Hector was presumed dead during a retaliatory strike by the New Republic, but had in reality disappeared, only to resurface again, six years later. During this time, he learned of the survival of his nemesis, Elgar Finn and sprung a trap for him, hoping to kill him. While Elgar was injured, he ultimately survived, while Hector disappeared again under the guise of Elgar's supposed death.
Over 20 years later, Hector, whose real name had been forgotten and was now only known by his old alias of the Black Baron, had rented his services out to the Confederation, defeating Elgar's son during Operation Wrath.
Biography[]
Service to the Aradan Union[]
Hector was born on Aradan to Erruouf and Arlena Azimuth in 24 BBY as their heir apparent of the House of Azimuth. He rolled into and graduated from the Aradani Naval College sometime prior to the Emperor's death, yet would not enter service in the Empire.
After the Emperor's demise over Endor, former admiral Norven Loyaler called for a retreat and gathering at Noquivzor. Despite his rank and credibility, only a handful of Imperial personnel heeded his call.
Near the end of 4 ABY, Hector enlisted in the Aradan Union Navy. The Imperial Regent, as Norven had began to call himself, was in serious need of fresh manpower, his costly campaign against Ardus Kaine's Pentastar Alignment turning for the worse. Hector was assigned the Greyhound, an aging Venator-class Star Destroyer.
Acquiring his new flagship, he had Cybe Drives, at this point a private contractor to Norven, upgrade his ship's weapons, armour and shielding. Afterwards, his fleet was deployed to Borosk to continue the campaign against Kaine's forces.
At some point in 7 ABY, Hector was present for a skirmish over Sluis Van.
A Pirate's Life[]
Service to Baines[]
Hector continued to faithfully serve Norven's warlord faction, until his presumed demise in 7 ABY in a skirmish against Ysanne Isard. Finding himself at a loss, Hector radically turned into a Pirate, despite his previous dislike for pirates. Ditching his Aradani officer uniform, he instead donned a black coat, black boots, a black pointed hat, and a cutlass, christening himself the Black Baron.
Hector, learning of the rising tensions between the Varino Imperium and the True Loyalists in the Chommell sector, set course for Naboo.
His presence was complimented by the timely arrival of the True Loyalist forces led by Grand Moff Olyver Baines. Hector, considering offering his services to either warlord, was keen to see which warlord would come out on top in a brawl. While the engagement itself was brief, Baines sacked Naboo and granted the spoils to Hector, buying his loyalty.
The Criminal Court[]
Hector rapidly rose to prominence within Baines' warlord faction due to his unorthodox style and tactics. Still prizing his pirate life, the Baron established the Criminal Court, a group of smugglers and bounty hunters in service to him personally. Hector provided the work, and he'd gain a percentage of the profit. His first recruits were the smugglers Janseek Serrano and Victor Talon, bounty hunter duo Crassk and Radik and the bounty hunter Jackson Magellan.
During this time, Hector developed a professional relationship with another of Baines' associates, Karl Valehn, the two becoming the heads of a smuggling ring many of Hector's allies participated in.
Discovery of the Overlord[]
At some point, Hector received a job offer to assassinate his uncle, Leiron Azimuth. Well aware of his family ties, the financial payment offered by the contract convinced Hector to do it. Despite this however, he decided not to participate himself, having instead sent out the Mandalorian Locke, Janseek and Victor to do it.
Having arrived at Aradan, they found their target in a bar. Engaging in conversation, the group of them were drugged when they all had a drink served by the bartender. Upon waking up, they found themselves aboard a ship in the prison bloc. Making their way through the ship, they uncovered an active presence of Imperial bioweapons Project I17A, which had infected a number of soldiers on the ship.
After fighting their way through to the bridge, they reached out to the Greyhound, which promptly made its way to the coordinates provided, which led to the Outer Rim planet Belsavis. Many years ago, it was destroyed in combat with another Star Dreadnaught and had crash landed on the planet.
Hector, who at this point was still loyal to his former superior, directed the location of the Overlord to Norven Loyaler, whomst he knew was still alive. After cleansing much of the ship of the infected, Hector collected his crew and made his way away from Belsavis.
The Kuat raid[]
Perhaps the most outstanding court operation was the raid on Kuat Drive Yards later that year, where they kidnapped a number of senior designers employed with Kuat and recruited another member to their cause, the Krex known as Esa Napolae Daruun, who was employed with the Kuati Security Forces.
The end of the Court[]
Hector's jobs became more and more spectacular, to the point where they raided Kuat Drive Yards and had a number of skirmishes with the New Republic, the latter of which cost him almost everything. The last court operation was a raid on Charros IV, a planet protected by the New Republic. While the initial raid was successful, New Republic admiral Beya Ar'Lya chased the pirate down in 10 ABY.
Beya, catching up with the Greyhound and launched a boarding action. Hector, having accepted his fate, ordered the other members of the court to flee, while Victor and him stayed behind to cover them. Victor was hit once during the initial encounter with New Republic forces on the vessel, and was in no more fighting shape. Victor, who turned out to be a traitor, motivated by Erruouf Azimuth's supposed betrayal, twenty years ago, turned on his ally, and shot him in the legs.
Hector, surprised by his betrayal, collapsed to the floor, and after a final dialogue, another shot was fired, and Victor escaped the vessel, finding his way to Rishi where he was treated for his two injuries.
Ultimate Survival[]
By 18 ABY, Hector had reemerged from his hiding, and lured his previous colleague, Elgar Finn, with whom he had served under Baines and commonly clashed with, into a trap. Hector had captured his brother, Thomas Finn, in 9 ABY during a raid on Muunilinst.
He informed Elgar of the capture of his brother, and told him to meet on Anaxes, the burial site of one of Elgar's former officers, Elliot Miyron. Hector's plan was to murder Elgar on Anaxes, and sell Thomas off to the highest bidder. Hector, as a result, brought a contingent of forces with him in case negotiations turned sour. Elgar however still commanded a small force, and brought his own.
While the encounter began peacefully, not long after, a firefight broke out between the groups. While Elgar, armed with a blaster pistol, initially had the upper hand, in close combat, Hector managed to pierce Elgar's lung with his cutlass, forcing them to retreat. Hector, convinced he had assured Elgar's death, calmly made his retreat back to the Greyhound.
Hector would only learn the truth in 32 ABY, when rumours of his final death reached him. Hector was outraged by his survival, but satisfied when he learned how he died; an infection that had manifested in his lungs, caused by his blade.
Service with the Confederation[]
By 40 ABY, Hector's name had been lost to history, going solely by his title, the Black Baron. Under this guise, he had rented out his services to the Confederation, and encountered Elgar's son, Jaro Finn, during Operation Wrath. He defeated the latter during the battle over Columus, forcing an Imperial retreat.
