Answer: Yes, Master, I have been extensively programmed in multiple ways and techniques designed to enable me to successfully assassinate both Jedi Knights and Sith Lords and emerge intact.
—HK-47, to Laera Reyolé[src]

HK-47 was an HK-series assassin droid, part of a line of such models constructed by Darth Revan during the Jedi Civil War. The second such purpose-built droid, he was constructed in order to replace another such unit after it had become crippled and unable to return during an assassination mission into Mandalorian space. His career carrying out missions for the Sith Empire was cut short, however; during their escape from the battle to capture the Dark Lord, Marine Captain and Jedi Knight Laera Reyolé and Lieutenant Silas Dan'kre stole the Herald-class shuttle in which HK-47 had been secured pending his next assignment. As a result, the assassin droid became an unwilling—and initially unwanted—member of the first group of outsiders to visit T'lessia in that planet's recorded history.

Due to his non-organic status, HK-47 was a source of both curiosity and distrust among the native Sa'ari, however he proved to be of use when it came to helping Dan'kre's attempts to learn more about their language and culture. When Reyolé and the Bothan were forced to flee Tal'adin City and the Order of the Blue Light's monastery located in the capital, he was put into lockdown mode and left behind. Several months later, HK-47 proved crucial to resolving the Sa'ari Civil War, helping to protect Eldarch Bellinega T'Ledra as she walked to the Foruma Lawyteret in order to address the Lawyteret T'lessia. When Pelenora T'Yelc arrived at the Foruma complex in order to challenge T'Ledra herself, the assassin droid helped to keep reinforcements at bay by sniping at the Youngarch's aerial forces.
