The Gwongdeenians were a race of amphibious humanoids native to the Colonies planet of Gwongdeen. They bore a strong resemblance to the Ongree of Skustell.
Biology and appearance[]
The Gwongdeenians were amber-skinned amphibious humanoids with long tapering heads, two orange eyes mounted on two eyestalks, which emerged from either side of their heads, and a lipless mouth above their four nostrils.
Society and culture[]
Gwongdeenians could work for any affiliation and occupation, and could speak their own language. They could also speak Basic. They shared their name with the Gwongdeenian subterranean snail, a type of non-sentient gastropod from their homeworld. They were one of the 5 million sentient species (alien races) known to the Empire in the galaxy.
History[]
The Gwongdeenians were the sentient descendants of a non-sentient aquatic species. They evolved on Gwongdeen, a subterranean aquatic planet located in the Gwongdeen system within the Batorine sector of the Colonies region. Their homeworld was first discovered sometime between 1000 BBY and 25 BBY, during the widespread settlement and opening of the Deep Core. It fell into the area of space known as The Negs. They shared their home sector with the Blood Carvers, the Dreffonians, and the Lontars. In 25 ABY, their homeworld's population was at least 1 million.
