Rise of the Empire era

Gwendolyn "Gwen" Tenas was a Jedi Knight who was born in the year 40 BBY. She was the daughter of Jedi Master Terian Tenas who had long been believed dead. After being rescued from a life of slavery by Nolan Hawke, she was brought to the Jedi Temple to continue her training. During the Clone Wars, Gwen proved herself to be a cunning warrior. Due to her enhanced force empathy ability, she also became a key diplomat on par with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

After the Jedi Purge, Nolan traveled with Gwen and Tamlen. The three of them briefly joined a mercenary band known as The Corsairs. They Now free from the Jedi Order's rules, Nolan and Gwen began a romantic relationship. Eventually she revealed to him that she was pregnant.She was killed by Darth Vader as part of an elaborate plan engineered by Emperor Palpatine to try to turn Nolan to the Dark Side.

Early life[]

Childhood[]

Gwen was born on Tatooine in the year 40 BBY. Her father Terian Tenas was a Jedi Knight that had been spending the last 30 years in exile. She and her father lived a nomadic life, never staying in one place for too long. During this time Terian taught Gwen the ways of the force. She showed a strong aptitude for her abilities at a very early age. when Gwen was twelve a group of bandits found their settlement and attacked them. Terian and Gwen tried to fight them off but there were too many. Terian told Gwen to hide and come out when it was safe. Terian attempted to draw the bandits away from her. She protested but her father ordered her to hide. Terian managed to draw them away from her hiding place. When she emerged from her hiding place, Terian was gone.

She traveled alone for a while, moving from place to place. She eventually became a pickpocket in the city of Mos Eisley. Eventually, she was captured by a group of slavers and forced into the servitude of Gardulla the Hutt. She lived and worked as a slave for 4 years.

Personality and traits[]

Gwen was a fiery and independent woman. She was also considered to be very headstrong by many who met her. But she was also very kind and loyal. She was marked by a fierce determination to aid others. She refused to turn her back on anyone in their time of need. On the surface she seemed to be very confident and never let dire circumstances get her down. But inside, she was very insecure and had trouble letting anyone get close to her. After her mother abandoned her and her father died she felt like she was better alone. But eventually she was able to overcome this quality. Gwen also had a immense love of music and was even a very talented singer.

Powers and abilities[]

Lightsaber training[]

Gwen was unorthodox in her lightsaber combat due to the fact she joined the Jedi Order when she was in her mid teens. Instead of mastering one of the official forms of lightsaber combat Gwen devised a personalized style of combat, taking elements from all the forms and also some from the Ultari Justicars. She was one of the only Jedi of her time to use a dual-bladed weapon, which had fallen into obscurity over the course of the centuries. This weapon could also be taken apart into two separate weapons via fibercord. She fought with quickness and wit, often using her opponent's weaknesses against them.

Force Abilities[]

Gwen was capable of extensive telekinetic feats and could use the Force to increase her body's endurance and agility. She also very adept at Force Empathy. She was able to sense the emotions of people with almost perfect clarity. She frequently used this ability to gain insight into her opponents views. This allowed her to become one of the Jedi Order's greatest diplomats. For an unknown reason her abilities diminished when she was around people she knew.

Relationships[]

Nolan Hawke[]

From the moment she first met Nolan Gwen developed strong romantic feelings for him. Initially she was afraid of this because everyone she had ever loved had either abandoned her or betrayed her. There was also the fact that love was forbidden by the Jedi Code. Eventually though, they both realized neither of them were able to escape their feelings. They began a romantic relationship shortly after the Skyllian Blitz. Nolan and Gwen made love for the first time shortly before the Battle of Coruscant. After they both escaped the Jedi Purge, they were secretly married.Her death at the hands of Darth Vader devastated Nolan and drove him precariously close to the dark side. Gwen's memory helped Nolan resist the lure of the dark side. Many years after her death he described her as his "anchor" which he used to keep in touch with his faith in people.

Padmé Amidala[]

Gwen and Padmé first met during a diplomatic mission where Gwen escorted the Senator to a summit on Alderaan. After Gwen saved the senator's life from an assassination attempt by Asajj Ventress, the two struck up a friendship. The two often went to each other for advice on issues. They were both aware of their forbidden romances with Anakin Skywalker and Nolan Hawke respectively.
