The Great Schism was the war between Novus Kamino Prime, Nat-ahn Mandrex's Traitors, and later the Yuuzhan Vong.

The war was a foretold in the prophecy made by ex-coleader of the Colonies, Nathaniel Kenobi, who had stated that the planets would be placed under danger, but a descendant of his would come and be there to eliminate the problem. Dark Jedi—at the time—Nat-ahn Mandrex had heard of this prophecy, but only a small part, and acted accordingly. The real blame for the war was trivial rivalries among the Kaminoans and Ottiumigons, a problem that should have been taken care of by the planet's Jedi.

Beginnings[]

In 7 ABY, the Ottiumigons and the Kaminoans of Novus Kamino Prime had a border dispute. The Jedi were unable to reach a compromise. Seeming hope supposedly arrived when the prophesied savior came and resolved it. He was then elected leader of the Colonies, and many followed him, but the more cynical and conservative Jedi, Kaminoans, and clones adopt a wait-and-see stance. When it becomes clear that the savior—revealed as Nat-ahn Mandrex—did not have their best interests at heart, they formally broke ties from him and forced him off of Novus Kamino Prime.

He and his followers started a base on the former Ottiumigon homeworld Ottiumigos Prime. Weaker followers were weeded out, either by sentencing them to death or forcing them to cruel slave labor on the newly captured planet Kelakus.

Clone Commander Alpha and Jedi Masters Logh-Urr, Plett, and Amord were killed in battle against the forces of Mandrex. The former Minister of Communications, the Selkath Brashus, was promoted to the Leader of the Colonies' navy in the absence of anyone to replace Alpha.

He was not a military genius or strategist, but he could find ways to get the enemy to reveal their plans before a battle.

Over this period of time, there were many minor skirmishes, but Nat-ahn became more bolder with each passing year.

Salvation Comes[]

From 7 ABY to 29 ABY, the two groups warred for supremacy of the region. The Traitors felt victory was near, but the ever-optimistic colonists awaited with anguish for their real savior.

Their prayers were answered after Jedi Master Nathaniel Kenobi Solo found his grandfather's holocron and learned of the colony's troubles.

Immediately, he left and headed for the place his family had once called home, but his adventure was to take a turn for the worst, when a Rodian Peace Brigade member, Eutrus, passed on this classified information to his Yuuzhan Vong superiors. The Yuuzhan Vong quickly made plans to kill the unsuspecting Jeedai of the colony, before they could adapt as the Jedi of the GFFA had done.

Nathan's apprentice, Zossk Sadeet, learned of this and went to his last known coordinates to warn him.

Nathan arrived in the Ottiumigos Centrality and found his long-lost father, but learned that not only was he the false messiah he was sent to destroy, he was a Clawdite Dark Jedi. Thanks to the efforts of Ada Karr, Derran Karr, Kla, Olos Nah, Rozix, Crash, Sneaky, Tireal, and Flyboy, Nathan was able to escape, but both Flyboy and Kla were killed.

En route to Novus Kamino Prime, they got a distress call and an image showing that the Jedi Temple there was ablaze.

The group was able to relieve the weary Jedi defenders and captured most of the Dark Jedi who attacked. One of them was the daughter of Pandraxon: Wakdraxon.

Seeking treatment for wounds received during the raid, Nathan met his grandfather's old friend, Doc, and is given an update on the situation.

During Wakdraxon's trial, Nathan felt the voice of his grandmother admonishing him for not stopping the brutal torture of Wakdraxon during her "trial". He helped her up and convinced her to return to the colony, and her father.

Prime Minister Taun We and Jedi Master Pandraxon then granted him partial control of the fleet and colony. Nathan assumed his grandfather's role as Slag One and began campaigns against the Traitors.

The War[]

After a month of endless hit and run strikes, Nathan had had enough: now was the time to hurt his father. Unfortunately for him, Nat-ahn's child by his Zeltron concubine Dina had come into the Galaxy. Nat-ahn would name him Dal-tone Mandrex. Now unafraid that his line would end, he authorized deadly action against his estranged son.

Disobeying Brashus's order, Nathan attacked his father's fleet in a space battle and won. Impressed, Brashus offered him his position, but Nathan refused, saying that he is here to save them, not gain a position that would encumber them.

Zossk, meanwhile, encountered the Yuuzhan Vong above the world of Toola, whose native Whiphids had suffered grievous losses in battle. She fought the advanced agents and manages to flee with the Whiphid's fleet to Nathan, warning of the Yuuzhan Vong. Nathan, to the surprise of Zossk, laughs and thanks for the concern. He has already had his troops combat-ready for the Vong, equipping them with weapons supplied by his soon-to-be wife Jaina Solo.

Nathan devises a plan to end the war once and for all: while the main battlefleet, under Brashus, focuses on the Yuuzhan Vong, and another on Ottimumigos Prime, he will lead an assault on the manufacturing world Kelakus.

Endgame[]

The plans were drawn, the battles begun, the end in sight. The Yuuzhan Vong attacked Novus Kamino Prime, but thanks to Zossk and Brashus, they are easily beaten. Sensing defeat, Supreme Commander Vlek Shai, jumped to the Kelakus system, intent on causing as much destruction as possible.

The feint at Ottimuigos Prime is semi-successful, because Nat-ahn fled when he realized that is not their intended target. He found his son on Kelakus and threatened his new child's life, unless Nathan comes and lets them finish it once and for all.

Even though he followed the Potentium, the scared cries of his half-brother resonated through the Force, so Nathan accepted the challenge: winner take all!

Not the best lightsaber duelist, Nat-ahn used his shapeshifting and guile to try to win Nathan over. A chance mind probe on his part revealed whom Nathan loved the most and Nat-ahn promises to take very...special care of her. Since he had been holding back until then, Nathan let loose the fury of all nine Corellian hells.

Vlek Shai then came into the fray and attacked the two force-sensitives. Evenly matched, Vlek and Nat-ahn gang up on Nathan. The two foes almost subdued him, but remembering the promise he had given Jaina, and the cries of Dal-tone, Nathan found all the willpower he needed and conquered his opponents. Slicing the duo in six neatly cut pieces.

Aftermath[]

With their leader dead, the Traitors surrendered and received a full pardon. Nathan took most of the Jedi and clones to the Core, so that they can help in the retaking of Coruscant.

The colony began to thrive under the direction of the GFFA and the re-elected Taun We. Kelakus was relieved of slave labor and its shipyards made contracts with Alliance companies.

But, after the attack by the Reavers on the southern Outer Rim, Novus Kamino Prime was evacuated and became some of the many Survivors.
