The Great Galactic War was a war that happened in 60 ABY between the forces of the New Galactic Empire and the Sith Empire Reborn, which later turned into the Sadow Empire. The war ended with a crushing defeat and dissolution of the New Galactic Empire, and afterwords a militia/rebellion was formed out of the remaining Imperials, local militias, mercenary groups, and even Sith prisoners of war. The Galactic Rebellions followed the war.
