The Grand Army of the Republic was a clone army founded in 22 BBY via the senate and Galactic Republic on Coruscant to combat the increasing threat of the rising power of the Separatist Alliance and the Droid Army. The army was made up of clones produced on the planet Kamino by the native Kaminoan species inhabiting the planet. The original order of clones began at three million, which eventually grew to over 14 million as the need for replacing the clone casualties grew. The Grand Army of the Republic used a branching system, and contained at least two divisions; the Republic Military and the Republic Navy. The Grand Army was disbanded in 19 BBY and reorganized into the Galactic Empire.
