The Grand Academy Council was a satellite administrative body subservient to the Council of First Knowledge. A five member Council, these Jedi Masters were appointed to govern the Grand Academy of the Jedi Order on the planet Ossus. The center of all Jedi learning, every single Jedi trained past 19 BBY passed through the halls of the Grand Academy or the Acolyte Academy and were therefore subject to the jurisdiction of the Grand Academy Council.
Organizations
The Grand Council was composed of five members; the head instructors and the Academy Headmaster. Meeting within a dark, torch-lit chamber of polished stone within the upper levels of the Grand Academy, the Council met regularly to discuss curriculum, teaching methods and the training of Jedi Initiates. The members sat in a circle and consisted of the highest ranking member of their discipline within the Academy system, including the Order's Battlemaster, the Chief Seer, the Acolyte Instructor, the Chief of Force-instruction and the Headmaster. The reasoning for their placement on the Council was to ensure that all of the Academy's disciplines were carefully reviewed by the Council during each session, and the Jedi they represented had a voice.
History
The Grand Academy of Ossus served as the starting point for all Jedi education, providing a foundation for future learning and success. Every Force-sensitive in the galaxy was legally required to pass through its doors and learn the ways of the Force. Catering to Jedi Initiates and Acolytes, the education received at the Academy provided all Jedi with the framework they needed to continue on in their training as a Padawan before traveling to Tython to study at the Great Temples during the Great Journey. The administrative body of the Academy was created as a satellite of the Council of First Knowledge to serve exclusively the Grand Academy and to tailor its programs to fit the needs of the current student body.
