The tyrant wishes to use their song to paint themselves as the defenders of liberty and democracy, to clearly propagandise their war of oppression against us, so I decided to take their tune and adapt it to a song dedicated to the true freedom fighters, to our great Confederate nation and her sons fighting for our national democracy, liberty and Western rights, and of our resistance to a tyrant's rule.
—Edwin Hatton when being asked about his parody
Glory, Glory, to the Western land! was a Confederate States of Earth parody version of the popular Union of Earth States patriotic song and unofficial anthem Glory, Glory, to the Union!.
Written by Edwin Thomas Hatton in early-mid 21 BBY as an answer to Richard David Pickman's song, the song became fairly popular for its rousing lyrics and tune. The song was viewed as one of a number of unofficial Confederate national anthems.
The song appeared in the First Edition of Patriotic Songs and Anthems of Confederate Earth, a Songbook of patriotic songs, hymns, and music pieces from the Confederate States of Earth.
Lyrics[]
The tune to Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
We are fighting for our freedom, we are fighting for our rights,
we are fighting for our Confederacy and our Western lands,
we shall ne'er be assailed by an Eastern tyrant's hand,
our freedom shall ne'er die!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
God save our Confederacy and our Western rights!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
Our Greycoats are marching on!
Her Excellency Jane Zarkan does lead our Confederacy,
she leads our states to liberty, for the future of our posterity,
and tho' the tyrant may besmirch her great, honoured name,
her spirit shall ne'er die!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
God save our Confederacy and our Western rights!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
Our Greycoats are marching on!
When Richard Williams rais'd his great abhorr'd band,
e'er determined to crush the spirit of national democracy,
we Confederates rush'd to our artillery field guns,
and we blasted the foe from our land!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
God save our Confederacy and our Western rights!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
Our Greycoats are marching on!
Now Richard Williams knows of the folly of his pride,
for at the hands of our Greycoat boys much of his band has died,
our dear, noble boys shall make the tyrant foe fly,
freedom shall ne'er die!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
God save our Confederacy and our Western rights!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
Our Greycoats are marching on!
May our Crimson Bars e'er fly o'er our Western land,
may she be an honoured mother of our Confederate band,
may the Union tyrant foe kneel beneath her folds,
in freedom she shall e'er fly!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
God save our Confederacy and our Western rights!
Glory, Glory, to the Western land!
Our Greycoats are marching on!
