Ghess (/gɛs/) was a male Simyasto Centurion of the Golden Empire. From 144 ABY to 147 ABY, he served as a Royal Guard to Tariun Sakaros along with Sovi Evnairis. He also participated in Breek Zagrev's assault on the enemy flagship during the Battle of Dolomir. He apparently maintained a friendly relationship with Tariun after his protection detail was completed, as he was seen shortly after the battle playing sabacc with Tariun, Walyad, and Tarse Medrego. His loyalty to and affection for Tariun led him to volunteer for the mission to wipe out the Human Unity Front in 150 ABY after their failed assassination attempt on Tariun's children. Ghess and Sovi were also close friends.

Ghess carried a double-bladed lightsaber with an acid green blade; unlike many double-bladed lightsaber specialists, Ghess used a "hilt-and-a-half" saber, longer than a standard lightsaber but shorter than two end-to-end. He felt the design allowed him to more easily defend his weapon against sun djem. Ghess was sufficiently skilled in its use to duel two Vyrak Legionnaires simultaneously. Because of his talent with the weapon, he was chosen to assist Tamlok in training Azalyn Kass`l in the use of a saberstaff beginning in 154 ABY.

Ghess took part in the Battle of Renthiv in 155 ABY and commanded Operation Broken Chain the following year. He was one of four former Royal Guards (along with Jira Zaffrod, Luna Raquelsei, and Zeth Kezzerek) reinstated to the Guard in 156 ABY to protect the comatose Jadian Star after an unsuccessful attempt on Jade's life.
