Gaz Fordus also known as Doc, was a Filordus Jedi youngling who survived Order 66. He later became a Jedi Healer. He wielded a teal lightsaber staff.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Gaz was born on the Filordus homeworld of Filordis, but he and his family soon left the planet after Gaz's birth. They traveled The Galaxy in a Barloz-class freighter called the Darkstar. One day however, the ship was damaged by pirates. Luckily for Gaz and his family, Obi-Wan Kenobi and his padawan, Anakin Skywalker, were in the vicinity at the time and managed to repel the pirates, with the aid of the Darkstar. Sensing that Gaz was Force Sensitive, Obi-Wan persuaded Gaz's family to allow him to take Gaz to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Gaz was placed in Krakana Clan. While in the Jedi Temple, he became fascinated by the thousands of alien species that the temple housed, and spent most of his time in the library, studying the species of The Galaxy with the aid of the Chief Librarian, Jocasta Nu.

Order 66[]

While on a training mission away from Coruscant, the Star Destroyer that was carrying the younglings was shot down by Separatist forces over Dimock. The younglings managed to survive the crash by getting into an escape pod and jettisoning onto the planet's surface. Shortly after the landing, they were rescued by the Jedi team of Tadra Kren, Yulo Gart and Molkir Tyd, as well as their Clone troopers. However, while being escorted to a spaceport, Order 66 was initiated, and the Clones turned on their generals. Thinking quickly, the Jedi managed to hijack an RTT and managed to escape into the wilderness. Tadra knew though, that they could not hide from the Clones forever, so he ordered Molkir to take the younglings and run into the wilderness of Dimock. The Jedi managed to reach a spaceport, where Molkir used The Force to persuade a smuggler to transport them to Artus Prime, a mining planet where Molkir believed that they could safely hide.

Exile[]

When the Jedi reached Artus Prime, Molkir agreed to teach the younglings everything he knew in the ways of The Force. He was particularly pleased to teach Gaz, because the young Filordus showed proficiency in Force healing, a skill which Molkir also possessed. He taught the boy to expertly heal people, but neglected to teach much in the way of lightsaber combat, which led to Gaz becoming a novice duelist. On one fateful day, one of Gaz's fellow Padawans, Kori Dannus, turned on Molkir and his fellow Jedi and attempted to kill Molkir. Gaz was the first to face Kori, but was easily knocked out while he attempted to reason with him. Kori got close to Gaz before using The Force to knock Gaz down, before kneeing him in the head. When Gaz awoke, he learned that Kori had been defeated and exiled by another Padawan, Vasaga Nomaki. He used his healing prowess to heal the other Padawans.

Battle of Artus Prime[]

Fourteen years later, the Empire Reborn conquered Artus Prime. Knowing that his small band of Jedi could not defeat the large forces of the Empire Reborn, Molkir ordered his Padawans to go into hiding. However, when New Republic Forces arrived under the leadership of Kyle Katarn in an attempt to liberate Artus Prime, Molkir allowed his Padawans to leave hiding and assist the New Republic soldiers. Gaz killed few Imperial soldiers, preferring to heal the injured New Republic forces. After the battle was won, Kyle told Molkir about Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order, and said that Luke would be happy to have Molkir and his Padawans join him.

Jedi Praxeum[]

Mas Tolnoth: “You gave your ship to Tora?! But I'm a much better pilot than he is!
Gaz Fordus: “Perhaps so, but I've heard that his Padawan is also a highly skilled pilot, perhaps even better than you. Besides, you have your own ship.
Mas Tolnoth: “I can have more than one ship! I like old freighters anyway, does Tora's Padawan like old freighters?

— Mas Tolnoth, questioning Gaz on why he didn't obtain his ship

Gaz and his friends then left Artus Prime and joined the other Jedi in Luke Skywalker's Jedi Praxeum. Gaz and the other trained extensivley at the Praxeum and Gaz soon became a better duelist. While on a mission to Lodos, Gaz ran into his siblings, who still used the Darkstar as transportation. They allowed their brother to take the old ship, planning to purchase a YG-4210 light freighter to replace it. Gaz then gave the ship to his friend, Tora Mikalto, whose padawan was an experienced pilot. Following the period of time between leaving the Jedi Praxeum and the Yuuzhan Vong War, he set up a research station on Stic, along with a group of other Jedi sentientologists, in order to observe the native Xi'Dec.

Yuuzhan Vong War[]

Gaz Fordus: “These Yuuzhan Vong...fascinating creatures. They possess no connection to The Force, and yet somehow they are powerful beyond imagine.
Marruc Goss: “Fascinating? You call those animals fascinating? After what they've done to countless worlds? After all the lives they've destroyed?
Gaz Fordus: “You forget Marruc, that I am a Sentientologist. It is my job to be fascinated by different species, no matter how monstrous they may be.

— Gaz Foruds and Marruc Goss on the Yuuzhan Vong

Gaz later took on a Padawan, an Echani named Kelsee Datana. However, when the Yuuzhan Vong War broke out, Gaz was assigned as a medic on a medical Modular Taskforce Cruiser. Because of this, he allowed Kelsee to be trained by Tora. During the course of the war, Gaz saved countless lives through the use of his healing abilities. For his services, Gaz was awarded the Medal for Distinguished Service. After the war, Gaz began studying the Yuuzhan Vong who had not left for Zonama Sekot, and later aided them with their terraforming efforts.
