Garm Haywick was a male human military officer and politician from Bastion who most notably led the Bastion Popular Army against Imperial Allied Fleet Command.
History[]
Early life[]
Garm was born on Bastion in 57 BBY. His father, a native of Corellia, was an officer in the Outland Regions Security Force and spent very little time with his son. Upon coming of age, Garm enlisted in the Galactic Republic's Judicial Forces and eventually acquired the rank of captain.
Clone Wars[]
When the Clone Wars broke out across the galaxy, Garm transferred to the Republic Navy and commanded an Acclamator-class assault ship which participated in the First Battle of Geonosis and later battles throughout the war including the Battle of Coruscant.
Imperial Era[]
As the Republic transitioned into the Galactic Empire, Garm continued his service under the Imperial Navy for several years before returning to Bastion, where he pursued local politics. Garm eventually became disillusioned by stories of the Empire's gradual progression into tyranny, and he became a voice of resistance against the Empire. After an assassination attempt which he presumed was an Imperial operation, Garm went into hiding over the course of the Galactic Civil War.
Liberation of Bastion[]
After the war, Bastion became the command center of an Imperial remnant known as Imperial Allied Fleet Command. Seeing an opportunity to drive the decentralized Imperials off-world, Garm reemerged and rallied thousands of irate civilians into what he would call the Bastion Popular Army, which would wage a guerrilla war with the Imperial remnant.
In 9 ABY, a New Republic campaign against Imperial Allied Fleet Command culminated in the Siege of Bastion. As a month-long space battle raged in Bastion's orbit, Garm gathered the Bastion Popular Army and supported the New Republic army in their ground invasion.
Governor[]
After the lengthy battle, which would see more than one million lives lost, Garm was installed as the governor of a New Republic provisional government on Bastion, and he retained his position until dying of natural causes in 33 ABY.
