Gallius Rax, born as simply Galli, was a Human male who served as a Fleet Admiral in the Imperial Navy.

Biography[]

Early life and career[]

Gallius Rax, then known as Galli, was born on Jakku several years before the outbreak of the Clone Wars. When Galli was six years old, he stowed away on the personal yacht of Chancellor Palpatine when it visited Jakku on an excavation mission in 30 BBY. Seeing potential in the young orphan, Palpatine took on Galli as his protégé and sent the boy back to Jakku to guard the excavation site.

Following the rise of the Galactic Empire, Galli—now known as Gallius Rax—came to serve in Imperial Navy Intelligence by 15 BBY, holding the rank of commander, although his existence was known to only a select few, among them being the Emperor himself as well as Colonel Wullf Yularen. He was awarded several medals during his service, including the highly prestigious Hero of the Empire and Emperor's Will medals. By the time of the Battle of Endor, he had attained the rank of Fleet Admiral[1] as well as the Emperor's Voice.[2]

Counselor to the Empire[]

Operation: Cinder[]

Following Emperor Palpatine's death at Endor and his failed attempt to return from Chaos at Byss, Rax took it upon himself to carry out the Contingency. He sent out numerous Sentinel droids to carry out tasks in preparation for the Contingency, including awakening the ancient Sith Lord Darth Vorath. Taking command of the Super Star Destroyer Ravager, Rax gathered a small fleet in the Vulpinus Nebula as he prepared for the endgame of his plan.[3][2]

In 5 ABY, Rax, under the codename "Operator," made contact with Admiral Rae Sloane and convinced her to gather a summit on Akiva to discuss the Empire's future as it slowly collapsed under the rule of Director Ysanne Isard. Unbeknownst to Sloane, this summit's only purpose was to eliminate some of the warlords Rax saw as a threat to the Contingency as well as to bring Sloane into his plot.[2] Around the same time, Rax dispatched his Sentinels to select Imperials across the galaxy, including Moff Quarsh Panaka and Admiral Garrick Versio, and ordered them to carry out Operation: Cinder, targeting numerous worlds and threatening them with satellites that would disrupt their climates.[3] This was designed to distract the New Republic so that Rax could carry out his planned ritual on Jakku that he hoped would bring Emperor Palpatine back from the dead.[2] To perform this ritual, he had High Inquisitor Jerec retrieve the Scepter of Ragnos on Korriban and ordered Warlord Zsinj to deliver a Nightsister from Dathomir.[3]
