The Galactic Republic in all is horror. There is no unity, there is only three.
—Senator of Fresia Vio Doyes
The Galactic Republic was the name of the ruling Galactic faction 3,000 years after the Battle of Yavin, and remained in power for 2,000 years before it was reorganized into the Imperial Dynasty. The Republic was split into three separate parties, the Senate Party, which was the strongest, the Bureaucrat Party which was subservient to the Senate Party, and the Imperial Party, the smallest but most military power.
History[]
Founded after the Second Unification Wars, the Galactic Republic from its start was split into three separate factions. Once again making Coruscant the capital, the Galactic Republic with aid from the Jedi remained in power for thousands of years without fail.
Rise of the Imperials[]
The Imperial Party was the weakest in the Senate mostly due to its ideals. The Imperials thought that the Republic would be run at its strongest if it was run primarily by the Chief of the Senate, who despite being the executive branch, acted as little more than a moderator in the Senate. In the last Age of the Republic, the Imperial Parties openly allied themselves with the Sith Order on Korriban, and elected a Sith Lord Viocter Doyes, who was also the Senator of Fresia to head the House.
Return of the Sith[]
With the Sith in charge of a political party in the Senate, the Jedi Order pushed for the Senate to further limit the Imperial Parties power. Senator Doyes despite his Sith alignment, was openly helpful to the Jedi and was the most trusted friend of the Jedi Master, Jon Newt. The majority of the Senate dismissed the Jedi's fears and when the elections came and went, Senator Doyes was elected Chief of the Senate. Hours after the announcement, the current Chief, Luke Bane stated he would not step down if a Sith was take his place and was backed by the majority of the Jedi Order. Outraged, the Imperial Party pulled out of the Republic and retreated into Sith Space. Three years later, the Sith invaded the Republic using codes provided by the now fallen Jon Newt. For the first time in thousands of years, the Sith Empire had once again invaded the Republic.
The Sith/Republic War[]
The Sith/Republic War lasted about three standard years. The Sith had massed a large army though its years in the Republic, vastly outnumbering the Republic Defense Fleet. 5,030 ABY the Chief of the Senate sent a call of Surrender to the Sith Empire, accepting Doyes as the Chief of the Senate. Months later, Sith ships flew over the Galactic City, and once again the Galactic Republic fell, replaced by the Imperial Dynasty.
Government and politics[]
The Galactic Republic was split into three distinct parties:
- The Senate Party as its name suggest, favored a Senate rule. The Senate Party has had Chiefs rule the Senate since the formation of the Republic, and as such as grown to be the strongest Party. Many Chiefs are almost subservient to the Senate Party, as it promises that their reign would go unchallenged.
- The Bureaucrat Party was the party of bureaucrats, who mostly watched the Republic's credits. Through various means from the entirely legal, to the completely illegal they made sure the Republic stayed for the most part rich. Their flaw as that they cared very little for the Rim Worlds, only the Core Worlds to the Mid Rim was worth protecting economically, and they were far weaker than the Senate Party. Most of the credits the bureaucrats made was sent to further power the Senate Party.
- The Imperial Party was the offspring of one of the political factions during the Second Unification Wars, the Imperial Party favored a one man in control rule of the Galaxy. To them, the Republic was at its weakest because it had to go through a extremely biased congress to get anything done. The Imperials believed that one man after hearing all sides should say what needs to be done. Over the years as their number decreased, there military power increased. In fact, many of the ships in the Republic Defense Fleet belonged to the Imperial Party. The Imps were also openly favorable to the Sith Order, who many at the time saw as the main cause of the Second Unification Wars. When they accepted the Sith Senator Vioctor Doyes as their House Head, they slowly gained further control in the Senate.
Military[]
The Republic's military was comprised of thousands of Star Destroyers, Mon Calamari Cruisers and Star Defenders, random ships built on other planets, and millions of soldiers. By the end of the Republic however most of the fleet joined the Sith Empire, leaving the fleets vastly shattered.
The Fleets used to number well over two thousand capital ships. By the time the Sith got here we were down to four hundred.

Behind the scenes[]
The Galactic Republic (Redfive Era) was originally the New Republic set in an alternate universe by the original owners of the Star Wars Redfive Roleplaying Site. As time went on the New Republic grew and changed into its own unique style of government, eventually using the Three Party System when the backstory to the most recent Redfive site was established.
