The Galactic Marines, known also as the 21st Nova Corps, were a prominent military unit of clone troopers who fought in the Clone Wars. The marines served under the leadership of Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi and Clone Commander Bacara. Early on in the Clone Wars, they participated in the Battle of Cerea.

Clones assigned to the Galactic Marines were considered to be professional and highly-disciplined. They proved effective in their engagements across the battlefields of the Clone Wars. Marines were trained to operate in a variety of hostile environments from poisonous fumes to the vacuum of space.
The Galactic Marines wore specialized armor to protect them from harsh environments towards the end of the war, following the arrival of Phase II clone trooper armor. The design of their helmet was made to filter pollutants and other dangerous chemicals.
