Frenzanians were a sentient species native to the lush planet Frenzan IV in the galaxy’s Outer Rim Territories. They were known for their four arms, large size, and physical strength. Although they appeared uncivilized to many, Frenzanians could be very intelligent and often made good tacticians and engineers. Many Frenzanians were aligned with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, including Yosip Zagoonga.
Biology and appearance[]
A tall, bipedal reptile-like sentient species, Frenzanians were distinguished by their four arms. The lower arms were used to precisely manipulate objects, while the higher arms were mainly meant for pinching or attacking. All Frenzanians had green skin and yellow eyes. Their skin was very tough, being able to take multiple blaster shots, and their eyes were even capable of growing back if partially destroyed. Most Frenzanians were 1.9 to 2.3 meters tall, and did not display sexual dimorphism. The species also had fast reflexes and impressive coordination, which was a product of the dangerous natural environment on their homeworld.
Frenzanians were capable of digesting large amounts of food very fast, meaning that they produced bodily waste many times a day and had legendary appetites, typically eating 6,000 to 10,000 calories a day. Frenzanians could consume almost anything with their large, powerful jaws and absorb it with their resilient digestive system.
Frenzanians had two hearts and a strong immune system, and were highly resistant to most toxins and diseases. Due to this, it was considered extremely difficult to kill a Frenzanian with poison. They were considered adults at the age of 20 standard years. The average lifespan was 160 years, although it was not uncommon for Frenzanians to live for over two centuries.
History[]
Frenzanians evolved on the planet of Frenzan IV in the Outer Rim. The environment on their homeworld was extremely dangerous, causing the Frenzanians to evolve fast reflexes, quick thinking, and physical toughness.
They established the Frenzanian Kingdom around 20,000 BBY and independently developed hyperdrive technology. Eventually, the Kingdom joined the Galactic Republic and some Frenzanians moved to other planets across the galaxy.
By the time of the Clone Wars, Mavzuula Sazookla was the queen. The Frenzanian Kingdom seceded from the Republic to join the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Many Frenzanians sought for the CIS during the war.
Shortly after the end of the Clone Wars, the Galactic Empire carried out the Subjugation of Frenzan IV, resulting in the planet being devastated and the Frenzanian Kingdom being dissolved. The entire Frenzanian species was subjected to slavery by the Empire, often forced to work as laborers in harsh conditions.
By the time of the Galactic Civil War, the Frenzanian population had fallen to a small fraction of its former size. Many remaining Frenzanians joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Society and culture[]
Frenzanians were often viewed to be uncivilized due to their physical appearance, but they were actually quite intelligent due to their sophisticated brain. They spoke the native Frenzanian language, which was very difficult for other species to learn, though many Frenzanians could fluently speak Galactic Basic Standard. Frenzanians traditionally did not wear clothes as it was not part of their culture and Frenzanians could easily adapt to different temperatures despite little body hair.
Frenzanian society was matriarchal, with females dominating positions of power as they were regarded as more effective leaders. A queen was always the ruler of the Frenzanian Kingdom, females chose males to mate with, and children inherited their mother's last name. However, males were not excluded from leadership roles.
Frenzanians in the galaxy[]
Several billion Frenzanians existed in the galaxy, but they preferred to keep to members of their own kind. The vast majority of Frenzanians resided on Frenzan IV, while the remainder lived on a few Frenzanian colonies such as Zanjurro. As a result, they were not well-known throughout the galaxy. However, the species did have natural advantages that made them effective in numerous fields. Their neurological capabilities allowed many to become respected scientists and engineers. The reflexes and coordination typical of Frenzanians was beneficial for almost any occupation involving fast-paced situations, so some became expert combatants, podracers, or pilots.
Mavzuula Sazookla was known for being the last Queen of the Frenzanian Kingdom and for her support of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Her daughter Varazoti Sazookla was the Senator of the Sluis sector in the Galactic Senate and Separatist Senate. Yosip Zagoonga was the most well-known Frenzanian besides for monarchs, serving as a Marshal General in the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars, and later as an officer in the Rebel Alliance. Salep Yapuuzo and Wrakurona Kazzun were Frenzanian officers who both died in service to the CIS.
