Negotiations haven't started because the ambassadors aren't there. How can that be true? I have assurances from the Chancellor, his ambassadors did arrive!
—Frank Palpatine before the communications disruption

Frank Palpatine was the Senator of Naboo during the planet's invasion in 23 BBY. He had been senator of his home planet since 32 BBY. Frank was Queen Sabe Amidala's advisor and closest ambassador to her during her years of monarchy. He was one of many senators who participated in the failed attempts to stop the invasion from happening.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Palpatine was born on Naboo and grew up in the capital of Theed. He had taken the position of Senator of Naboo as of 32 BBY. He was the closest companion to Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum and Naboo's queen Sabe Amidala. Before Sabe's rule as queen, Frank served Naboo's king, Sabe's father Veruna. The two worked at trying to stop the Trade Federation from rising power, but that only led to the death of Veruna in 31 BBY.

Naboo Invasion[]

Senator Palpatine! What's happening?
—Sabe Amidala after the communications disruption

In 23 BBY the Trade Federation had invaded Naboo. Chancellor Valorum sent Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his former apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi to settle the dispute with Neimoidian Viceroy Nute Gunray. Negotiations failed and Gunray lied saying that the ambassadors had not arrived. Jinn and Kenobi fled with the invasion party and secretly headed with the droid army to Theed. Palpatine and Valorum learned that the ambassadors did arrive and assured Sabe Amidala that this was true. During the conversation, transmissions were jammed and cut off, preventing Palpatine from finishing the conversation.

Behind the Scenes[]

I must be frank, your majesty
—The quote said by Palpatine in The Phantom Menace in which the inspired name for Frank Palpatine came through[src]

Frank Palpatine is so far the same as the real Palpatine sans the name. Frank comes from the quote in Phantom Menace in which Palpatine says the quote above.

It is also unknown for now if Frank Palpatine and Darth Sidious are related. So far the two are treated as two separate characters.
