The Fourth Sith Order was founded by a rogue Jedi Knight named Torun Nal. Being such a charismatic Jedi, Torun inspired many other Jedi to join him. He assumed the title of Darth Aerus and took an apprentice by the name of Yevir Aias.
Aerus tried many times to destroy the Jedi, but due to corruption, mutiny and arrogance among his followers, none of his conquests were ever very successful. Aerus however, refused to let his followers slow him down and he managed to infiltrate the Jedi Academy on Manaan, and slay several Jedi Knights.
After Aerus' personal conquest of Manaan, Aerus was ambushed by five Jedi Knights on Geonosis, and whilst killing three of them; he was slain by the remaining two. News of their fallen Lord soon reached his academy on Korriban, and the Academy was thrown into anarchy. The students fought each other for the title but the Academy was disbanded by the masters.

- Lord – Head of the Academy. Reserved only for the founder, Torun.
- Master – Right hand of Lord Aerus. Highest rank achievable by other Sith.
- Consular – Mentors and trainers.
- Sentinel – Academy Guards. Reserved for gifted Knights.
- Knight – Standard student who may or may not have a master.
- Apprentice – Recruit with a master.
- Recruit – New student with no master.
