Does anyone know a step by step on how to add a template to a page please? I've tried and all I'm doing is messing up. Oh rats, I think I put this in the wrong category. --LadyVader (talk) 14:50, August 6, 2014 (UTC)

  • Moved to Senate Hall. Depends on what template you're trying to add. In general, the template code is this:
{{templatename}}

So if I wanted to place the {{Force Exile}} template on this page, I would put in this code:

{{ForceExile}}

To generate this result:

Force Exile Series
Origins of the Exiles (49–23 BBY)
A New Course · First Impressions · Second Guessed · Knight of the Order · The Cauldron · Lifelines · Shadow Play
Dawn of the Exiles (19 BBY-11 BBY)

Force Exile I: Fugitive · Man in the Mirror · Explanations · Harsh Light · Force Exile II: Smuggler · Force Exile III: Liberator · Crossroads · Paradigm Shift · The Price of Loyalty · Hand in Hand

The Early Years (12 BBY-10 ABY)
Thunderchief · Iron Maiden · Hard Code · Force Exile IV: Guardian · Deception on R'alla · Rogues and Paladins · Cloak and Datapad
The New Generation (14 ABY–27 ABY)

· Redemption's Call· Through Her Eyes · Closure · Champion of Yanibar · Boundaries

Trials of the Exiles (27 ABY—38 ABY)
Nine Riders · Blaze of Glory · Force Exile V: Warrior · The Final Voyage · Force Exile VI: Prodigal
Heir of the Exiles (328 ABY)
Convergence
Supplemental
The Essential Guide to Force Exile · Yanibar Guard Sourcebook · The Art of Force Exile · Inside Force Exile

Note that some templates (such as {{Quote}}) have additional fields that need populated, such as

{{Quote|Come have some cake.|GlaDOS}}
Come have some cake.
—GlaDOS

You can usually find a description of what fields are necessary on the template page (go look at {{Quote}} if that's the template you're looking at, for example).

Otherwise, it depends on what you template you want. Infoboxes are a bit different. Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 17:23, August 6, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! I'm wondering: What would someone do if they don't know or can't find the original source of an image? Would they just tag it with a copyrighted screenshot/fair use template? I found some good images, but I don't know their sources. --LadyVader (talk) 13:37, August 8, 2014 (UTC)
