Hey! I'm back! First, enormous thanks to Trak Nar and her freakin' sweet hat for managing the café in my absence. It's 2013 and that means a fresh round of Café Fanfic to help usher in the New Year!
Just like the previous ones, we're going to talk about fan-fiction (yours). The basic ground rules are the same. Please restrict this to stuff from your fan-fiction, but aside from that, no pressure. You can suggest, make observations, but no condemning other people's work and "I don't know" is a perfectly acceptable answer.
January's topic: We'll stick with something safer this month, but expect a challenge next time. For January, I want you to think of the coldest your character has ever been. Where is it? Why are they there? Is anyone with them? If so, who?

Tag Tomo[]
For three horrific years, Tag felt cold. She was one of Jorra's slave girls which meant that every day she was forced to wear a skimpy outfit and please whoever entered the Hutt's pleasure yacht. If she didn't, she would be beaten relentlessly. If she did a good job, she would be given death sticks, the only thing in her life that gave her any happiness. During her first few months as a slave, she would keep herself warm with the hot tears that she shed every night. However, as time passed, she cried less and less until one day, in a moment of brief clarity, she realized that her tears were no longer her source of heat. She realized that it was now the filthy hands of criminals that kept her body warm and the fake happiness induced by the death sticks that kept her warm in the inside.

Hm, quite an interesting topic you've got thar, Ataru. Let's see, who've I got to write about? I've got Nameless from "Rakata," but I don't think his owners let him get cold - bad for business and all. Hm. I guess that's it. Of all the stories I've released, I only really have one I still claim. What to do, what to do?
Hm, what about the stories I haven't released...?
Shameless plug, ho! :D
One of the six main characters in [REDACTED] is Riani Vie, a Pantoran. From Pantora. Obviously. She and her little brother, Kiernn (another one of the six main characters), were orphans who lived on the streets and ghettos outside cities, the latter usually located on or around Pantoran marshes, which obviously got very cold during the hemisphere's winter. Despite this, Riani would take care of her little brother through everything, even the cold—Kiernn was all she had, after all. This was only through her early teens, though, as it was discovered that Kiernn was Force-sensitive and thus was to be taken to the Temple. However, Riani wouldn't be separated from her little brother, nor he from her, so the Jedi provided her a home while she finished her education. While her brother became a Jedi, Riani worked to become part of law enforcement, specifically the Judicial Forces, ending up in the Jedi Relations Division, the branch responsible for working on missions with the Jedi (duh). Thus, she ended up working with her brother as a Judicial Forces officer as his talent in psychometry garnered him a place as a liaison between the Jedi and the Judicial Forces.
To sum up, Riani's been very cold, but she's made it through on the strength of her companionship with her little brother. D'aw. -Solus Talk to the Hand 05:44, January 19, 2013 (UTC)
Goodwood[]
This one's a no-brainer. The coldest Laera's ever been was early in her Marine career, when she served for a time as a fire team leader. On Ando Prime for a cold-weather operational training exercise, her squad became separated from the rest of her company, and ended up spending approximately fifty-three hours isolated in the cold Andoan winter cut off from headquarters. Despite the sophisticated systems within their armor the chill was readily apparent, especially for the Sullustan who served as the assistant squad leader. A Navy SAR boat eventually found the wayward Marines, taking them back to base for immediate dunkings in kolto tanks (everyone had suffered at least somewhat from exposure); Laera herself had acquired a minor case of frostbite on her left foot.
Over the next few days among the other soldiers, a couple of nasty rumors circulated about the incident. Some claimed that this was the result of a SNAKU with the squad leader, a Nikto who despite doing a credible job keeping the unit together, was thought to be something of a klutz with equipment (an accusation with no evidence). Another revolved around a supposed practical joke played by someone in another squad who had had it in for one of the privates in Laera's team. However, an examination of the incident by RNCI determined that no foul play had been committed and that it was a simple case of someone dropping the idiot ball.

The Jedi prophet Salen was never colder than when he dived into the Pool of Knowledge on Mortis because he wanted a vision of the future. -MPK, Free Man 15:30, January 19, 2013 (UTC)
- How do they keep the Pool of Knowledge from getting urine in it, may I ask? -Solus Talk to the Hand 05:13, January 21, 2013 (UTC)
Leiamoody of Ysonesse[]
Meaithe Akam(haven't come up with a descriptive background profile for her, so the entry page is really lacking detail)tended/tends to feel cold in the Netherworld, which isn't really a place where dead Jedi go after they die but where beings who died under conflicted circumstances literally split their souls in half and get stuck until their souls can be reunited and sent on to the Otherworld. The Netherworld is a desolate place, filled with gray mountains of ash, dead trees, dead grass, just a very cold, cold space with very little light. Meaithe goes there to find soul halves that need to be reunited with their other halves because she believes that no spirit should suffer in this place. She deals with crossing dead people over from the Living World to the Otherworld, which is the proper road for everybody to take after they die. It was her job as soul counselor to find the strays and try to get them back on the right road. She still does this even though she has a physical body (it's easier to travel between Here and There if you spent more time in There than Here).
(Yes, the above is all mumbo jumbo. I deal in mumbo jumbo, so that explains everything and nothing!)

Now is this cold as in the temperature or could it also mean as in personality?--Josh Benderщ(゚Д゚щ) 21:56, January 3, 2013 (UTC)

So I guess the one where we discuss the hottest a character has been (take that as you will) must wait until July or August, then? In any case, February could be dedicated to our characters' first encounters with, shall we say, "puppy love"? GoodwoodDebating Society11,988 Edits 10:30, January 19, 2013 (UTC)
