After some serious delays, we're back with March's installment of Café Fanfic! Apologies for our tardiness! To make up for it, we have a fresh topic to discuss. All of us had parents, so let's give 'em a nod.
Just like the previous ones, we're going to talk about fan-fiction (yours). The basic ground rules are the same. Please restrict this to stuff from your fan-fiction, but aside from that, no pressure. You can suggest, make observations, but no condemning other people's work and "I don't know" is a perfectly acceptable answer.
March's topic: Pick one of your characters. Got it? All right, great. Now think about their parents. What are they like? How did they (or the lack thereof) influence their child? What is their current status? What is/was their relationship with their child like? Atarumaster88

Karlessh[]
Karlessh's family life was different than most Gands, as it was adapted to the nuclear family of most worlds. Thus, Karlessh had two parents, rather than the usual clan of several generations of Gands. Karlessh's parents were hard workers and were thus away and he was left to fend for himself. He was a latchkey kid, expected to be a miniature adult like his parents, and his family life was otherwise devoid of the usual coddling and love and affection. This led Karlessh to fall in with a bad crowd. He lacked proper role models, proper guidance (his folks were young and inexperienced, having traveled offworld at the whim of their employers), and attention. Comparing his family with the families of other kids, Karlessh began to crave the attention that they got; the family dinners, the outings, the father-son talks, the works. So, he acted out in school and got in trouble with the law.
It was only after he was brought home by CorSec that Karlessh's parents realized that they will also need to adapt to the lifestyle of the people they live amongst. Thus, his parents cut back work hours in order to be home with their son, they paid attention to him, they showed him affection, they guided him. They learned to be parents. His parents also recognized his need for a proper Gand role model, and knew that Karlessh held some admiration for the bounty hunter Zuckuss. However, attempts to contact Zuckuss were not successful. - Well, April Fool's Day is coming up, and there's the old rhyme, "April showers bring May flowers," and the Middle English version "Wan that Aprille in his shurest sote, the droughte of Marche hath pierced to the rote, and bathed every veyne in swich liquor."
