Fornassan was the homeworld of the Temi Temis. It was located in the Unknown Regions. It was first a possession of the Zarban Hegemony before passing into the control of the Golden Empire.

Geography[]

Fornassan was perpetually wintry; its warmest zones were tundra, while its polar ice caps were so cold as to be functionally uninhabitable. It snowed almost every day, everywhere, and several plants species which managed to thrive in snow had gray or dull brown trunk and root coloration. They usually bloomed in blue.

Blue was the most common color apart from white and shades of off-white due to Fornassan's oceans. While standing water often froze over, running water generally did not, due to the presence of underwater hot springs and its own quick speed. The sea life in Fornassan's rivers were a staple food source of many other native species.

Society and culture[]

Mild-mannered and nonconfrontational by nature, the Temi Temis generally had cities and societies with close dwellings, few security features, and open streets with room for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Boisterous individuals often made Temi Temis uncomfortable, although a truly commanding presence could inspire widespread respect and loyalty.

Due to Fornassan's general lack of color, the Temi Temis often used color in art. Before their introduction to aliens, the most common art form was fire. After the Zarban Hegemony acquired Fornassan, the Temi Temis were eager to import colorful materials from offworld, and often bought common pigments from other planets for exorbitant prices.

History[]

Fornassan's history was generally one of peaceful cooperation among the Temi Temis, first to outwit or evade their natural predators, and later to expand their society and maximize resources. Because they were loath to be confrontational, Temi Temis often went centuries or even millennia without changing forms of government.

The technologically advanced Simyastos arrived in 14 ABY, and Fornassan became the first alien world to join the Zarban Hegemony (it already contained Zarban, the Simyasto homeworld, and Antipon, a Simyasto colony in the same system). The planet experienced a rare time of serious war preparation during the Shield War, although the Hegemony was able to keep the warlike Horzyx at bay.

In 104 ABY, the Hegemony was absorbed into the Golden Empire, and Fornassan willingly went along with the deal.
