The legendary Chernobog of the Charon Dominion
The Chernobog , frequently referred to as the First Prophet and the Forefather, was a legendary figure, revered by the Charon Dominion, particularly the Savant Caste, and was believed by many to be the first indication to the original Charon that a vassal species would eventually succeed them. The Chernobog's name was long lost to history, with some accounts contradicting each other as to the reason; some believed the Chernobog's name was no longer important or applicable to the individual, while other believed the Chernobog himself shed his name following his advent. There was also speculation that some among the original Charon, specifically the next Harbinger, struck the Chernobog's name from record, due to the latter being of a vassal race. By the time of the Extant War, it was even theorized that no one actually knew the identity of the Chernobog to begin with.
A great deal of myth surrounded the Chernobog, which made facts about him almost impossible to ascertain even by the Charon keepers of historical accounts. The most famous claim attributed to the Chernobog was that he began and led the Oblivion Crusades, the thousand-year-long war across the vast expanse of the Otherspace galaxy. It was also believed that the Chernobog was the first Voidborn to exist, at least according to the knowledge of Charon society, although individuals tethered to the Void in some capacity predate the Chernobog's existence by over four thousand years. The Chernobog was also the creator of, and the first individual to hold, the title and position of the Harbinger, the absolute ruler of the Charon. That action eventually marked the beginning of the Chernobog transforming the Charon cult into the First Dominion, and the launch of the Oblivion Crusades.
The Chernobog was also believed to have been the first lifeform to have come into contact with the Presence within the Void, and is known for having allegedly brought the most prized relic to the Charon, the Void Stone to Erebus. According to the legend surrounding the Chernobog, he was spirited to the Void by the Presence, although by the time of the Extant War, events surrounding the Chernobog were considered to be more myth than factual occurrence. Nevertheless, the Chernobog was seen as the true founding father of the Charon Dominion and "forefather" of all Voidborn, if obscured to some degree. Although the Chernobog was, not Charon in species, but a vassal race, his exact species was never recorded or known. Of the few characteristics ascribed to him, the Chernobog was deathly pale-skinned, tattooed, white-eyed, gray-haired and Humanoid in form.
