Filiation was a ritual used to officially reject a clone or strandast that did not meet the customer's requirements.[1] The ritual was keenly performed by Sheev Palpatine to distance himself from specimens he was not satisfied with. In 19 BBY, Sheev filiated Anaakin Skywalker, a clone based on DNA extracted from the Chosen One's semen.[2] Seven years later, the Emperor filiated Dathan, whose later marriage brought into the world Palpatine's granddaughter, Rey Palpatine.[1]
