Post-Legacy era

Darth Rhayne was a Zuruk Dark Lord of the Sith of unknown birth name, and a founding member of what would become the Sith Consulate, an organization of dark-side wielding Force users which sought to undermine and eventually destroy the Fourth Galactic Republic. Born to a pair of surviving Sith masters in the aftermath of Darth Krayt's death, Rhayne was raised and taught almost exclusively with respect to the Sith Code, and the Rule of One. As such, he became a fanatical servant of the dark side of the Force, determined to use his longevity to bring the Sith back to the forefront of the galaxy.

He and his allies were ultimately responsible for the collapse of the Republic in 310 ABY, and the subsequent Remnant-Consulate War against the Republic Remnant. He sat as the de facto leader of the Consulate until 348 ABY, when he and his former apprentice, Darth Pire, met their ends at the hands of the Jedi Masters Yokar Tu, Kylin Renel, and Tertehr, whereupon Darth Pire's apprentice, Darth Aureus, assumed leadership of the Consulate and organized it into the High Sith Order.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Rhayne was born to two Sith masters on the backwater planet of Vuna, a planet outside of the control of the Galactic Federation Triumvirate upon Darth Krayt's death, situated at the very edge of known space. Vuna, a world devastated by the Yuuzhan-Vong invasion almost a century prior, had welcomed the Sith's rise during the Alliance-Imperial War. When the Sith masters who would become Rhayne's parents arrived on the planet, wounded and defeated, they were welcomed as heroes.

Rhayne was born roughly a year later, in 139 ABY. Displaying an aptitude in the Force at a young age, he trained under the tutelage of his parents for two decades; most of his childhood as a Zuruk.

His training was cut short in 150 ABY, when his family's presence was discovered by the Jedi. Receiving a vision in the night, Rhayne's father woke him urgently. His father explained the situation to him, stating that Rhayne would need to hide if he wished to survive. Then, he presented Rhayne with a holocron, telling him that it contained the location of an old Sith master, one whom he would need to seek out to complete his training.

Then, they snuck him out of their small village in the early morning, anticipating the Jedi's arrival. Sure enough, by sunrise, a Republic fleet had appeared in Vuna's skies. The sight of a single dropship heralded the arrival of a Neti Jedi Master, who, after demanding that they both surrender themselves for trial, to which she was refused, engaged Rhayne's parents in a duel, cutting each of them down in moments.

With the help of the people in a neighboring village, Rhayne was able to flee the planet, departing for the world of Ryloth, whereupon he met the old master, Darth Vitral.

Training Under Darth Vitral[]

Vitral, a Human, had been living as a hermit in the mountains of Ryloth, seemingly withdrawing from the galaxy. For twenty years, he mourned what was, in his eyes, the death of the Sith dream. Forsaking the use of the Force and burying his double-bladed lightsaber, he lived a solitary and simple lifestyle.

It took Rhayne months to track him down. Through befriending locals and speaking with local officials, he learned of the arrival of a lone starship some twenty years prior, which had seemingly passed over the town and out of sight.

Pursuing this rumor, Rhayne stumbled upon Vitral's hut. Returning from a fishing trip to find Rhayne patiently meditating on the ground in front of his door, Vitral initially dismissed him, cynically remarking that the Sith were dead.

However, after days of pestering which culminated in an argument between the two, during which Vitral unintentionally rekindled his connection to the Force, he agreed to teach him. He recovered his lightsaber, which itself required a three day trek through the mountains, and tasked Rhayne with gathering the initial materials to construct his own lightsaber.

After Rhayne did so, stealing bits and pieces from various villages close by, his Force-based instruction began.

Having already learned basic telekinesis, as well as the particulars of meditation from his parents, Vitral sought to teach Rhayne the proper application of his power. He was taught the mind trick and aggressive applications of telekinesis, such as Force Push, Force Choke, and Force Submission. He learned more specialized powers as well, such as Force Scream and Force Lightning, though he would not master these until long after he left Vitral's tutelage.

The final Force ability Vitral taught Rhayne, after nearly nine years of apprenticeship, with Rhayne being upon the verge of reaching Zuruk adulthood, was the art of Force Bleeding. Through intense practice, he could learn to "bleed" an existing kyber crystal, turning it red and allowing it to become in-tune with the dark side. Being the last component needed for Rhayne to complete his lightsaber, he was especially interested in this power.

Vitral's old ship

Upon his mastery of it, he was given a task by Vitral. Vitral guided him to a rock formation, one Rhayne had never questioned through the years. He had even meditated upon the crest of the formation many times before. With a wave of Vitral's hand, the formation appeared to melt away, a feature indicative of the power of Force Illusion. In its place appeared a starship, covered in dust and seriously aged.

Vitral then tasked Rhayne with but one thing; the retrieval of a kyber crystal. He was ordered to hunt down a Jedi, kill them, and return with their lightsaber for the construction of his own. This task would serve as a sort of final test of Rhayne's Force abilities, before his saber training could begin.

Deciding against simply traveling to a Republic Core world, Rhayne opted for Indirio, a troubled frontier world in the Outer Rim. There, he reasoned, it would be simple to lure perhaps a lone Jedi Knight to him.

Arriving upon the world's capital city, Juno, Rhayne set about gaining influence within the planetary government. First, he obtained blackmail against Indirio's senator, Zobo Laa, whom he had deemed useful. He then set about sowing discord among the people of Indirio, hoping to cause unrest sufficient to warrant the attention of the galaxy's peacekeepers. Weeks passed before he saw results.

Eventually, his patience was rewarded, and a recently-inducted Jedi Knight, Aneti Wazat, was dispatched to the world to mediate negotiations between the people and the planetary government. Rhayne disguised himself as a trusted government official,  and negotiations went on for days as he slowly gained the Knight's trust. Eventually he was able to coerce her into a private meeting in an empty chamber, far removed from the primary negotiations.

Aneti wazat

There, Rhayne struck. Masking his intentions until that moment, he attacked Wazat, using the Force to push her against a far wall, and using a Force Scream to disorient her. Having obtained a blade of beskar, he engaged her in a duel. Had it been a simple, fair duel, he would have lost. Even disoriented, Wazat possessed far greater dueling skill. However, Rhayne held the advantage in the Force, and moreover, had gotten the jump on her.

Before reinforcements could arrive, Rhayne managed to drive Wazat through with his blade. As she collapsed, seemingly mortally wounded, Rhayne took her lightsaber and fled the Gubernatorial Palace.

He arrived back on Ryloth, saber in hand, and knelt before his master. Vitral took the lightsaber from him, and with a flick of his wrist, disassembled it into its component parts. Allowing the pieces to fall to the ground, Vitral took the crystal and handed it back to to Rhayne. He remarked that he had done well, and that he now needed to finish the job.

Though it was arduous, Rhayne returned to Vitral, exhausted and with a red kyber crystal in hand. Vitral presented him with the parts he had gathered all those years ago, and Rhayne completed his lightsaber, igniting it for the very first time not moments later. Being instructed to kneel, then, Rhayne was granted his title as Darth Rhayne, and rose as a Dark Lord of the Sith.

His saber training continued for another two years. It was then realized, however, that Vitral's time was nearing its end. Being a Human, his lifespan was a comparatively short eighty years, and that limit was fast approaching. Rhayne noticed it first. In their practice duels, Vitral was almost imperceptibly slower. He ran out of breath easier, slept for longer.

When Vitral's death came, it was not at the hands of his apprentice, as had been with most other Sith masters throughout history. He passed in his sleep, with Rhayne at his side to the end. It was then that Rhayne truly learned to fear death.

Founding the Consulate[]

Departing Ryloth after his master's death, as before with his parents, Rhayne again carried with him a holocron. A gift from his master, the holocron contained the names of every Sith acolyte who Vitral had known to have survived the defeat of the One Sith. Unlike before, however, their locations were not among the information presented, leaving Rhayne to seemingly wander in the dark. Left with no other option, however, he embarked on his search.

At some point in the later stages of his search for Sith Survivors, he encountered a young, orphaned Togruta by the name of Zaashla Kaso. Rhayne felt the Force within her, and quickly determined that she was worthy of apprenticeship under him. Her parents had been murdered by a band of bounty hunters who, after interrogation, weren't satisfied with their lack of information, zealously killing the both of them.

Rhayne stoked Zaashla's anger, her hatred of the bounty hunters, her fear that they might return. He was able to awaken the girl's potential, and took her as his apprentice.

After over a century of searching, in 290 ABY, Darth Rhayne had amassed a network of over fifty surviving Sith, more than half of whom harbored one or more apprentices. Feeling that he had sufficiently exhausted his list of names, having crossed out more than two thirds of them throughout his life, Rhayne gathered his network of allies together for one of only a handful of times. During a meeting that took place on his own homeworld of Vuna, Rhayne declared the creation of the Sith Consulate, naming himself as First Consul. He named four of his closest, oldest allies as the other Consuls, creating a council of five which would oversee the return of the Sith.

Conspiring[]

Following the founding of the Consulate, the network once again spread throughout the galaxy, especially the core worlds. With them, however, they brought new purpose, and more importantly, instructions from the Consuls. In a plan that greatly mimicked Rhayne's plot on Indirio, the Sith began gathering political influence on important worlds throughout the galaxy.

Senators were pocketed. Governors were bribed, blackmailed, whatever it took. Moreover, the Republic's military was infiltrated. Sith agents and acolytes permeated the navy and the army alike, eventually reaching the very highest offices and ranks. The Jedi suspected little, if anything.

Pilned the Hutt

Pilned the Hutt

During this phase, special attention was paid to the Hutt Cartels, outside of Republic territory. This matter was one Rhayne saw to personally, alongside his apprentice, who by then had earned the name of Darth Pire. He made frequent diplomatic visits to Nal Hutta, appearing before the Grand Hutt Council on numerous occasions. So frequent were his visits, in fact, that he developed a close friendship with the leader of the council, Pilned the Hutt.

The purpose of these visits was, ultimately, to establish something of an agreement between the Consulate and the Hutt Cartels. In the short-term, however, Rhayne hoped to convince the Cartels to exponentially increase their illicit activities in the Republic. He offered them resources, political protection, even the services of members of the Consulate.

These strategies took three standard years to bear fruit, with the Hutts agreeing to expand their activities in the Core and Mid Rim.

The effect was immediately noticeable. People across those affected planets grew to live in constant fear of encountering agents of the cartels, and grew disillusioned with the governments that seemingly did nothing to stop it. With Sith commanding the military of the Republic at the highest levels, no interference by the Republic was ever seen.

Anger against the Republic grew to unseen lengths. Coupled with Sith-backed rhetoric highlighting the absolute worst of the Republic and what it had to offer, planets across the galaxy began pushing for secession.

With the political influence of the Sith cemented, their numbers rapidly growing, and their goal of sowing discord completed, Rhayne began to focus on the Consulate's lack of military might, and the persisting problem that was the Jedi.

Sith agents staged dozens of incidents in and around the Coruscant Jedi Temple throughout the two decades of planning and conspiring since the Consulate was founded. Bombs were set off, riots were instigated, and some unlucky Jedi were assassinated. The uptick in violence caused the Jedi to grow weary of their ancestral holy world, and eventually the decisions was made to relocate almost entirely to Naboo. A year later, the Jedi Temple stood empty, with only a handful of Jedi left on the planet to hopefully discover the cause of the violence and bring about their return to Coruscant.

As for the military, Rhayne began funneling the Consulate's economic resources towards Vuna, attracting investment, prosperity, and more importantly, military contractors.

By 305 ABY, Vuna was home to a thriving shipyard, producing dozens of ships each year, each staffed purely by those loyal to the Consulate and the Sith. Captains were appointed from among the Sith's brightest tacticians, admirals from the best among captains. The sole exception to this was the Second Consul, who served as the supreme commander of the Sith fleet. By the time of the Republic's collapse, this rank was held by Darth Pire.

As Vuna's population rapidly expanded, so too did the conscription of its people into the military. In their first years, the navy and ground forces of the Sith Consulate were made up entirely of people from Vuna, who had been taught utter loyalty to the Sith from the start.

The Consulate had established a powerful military by 310 ABY. With all of the pieces of Rhayne's decades-long plan falling into place, it was only a matter of time before the Republic imploded. To prepare for this, Sith-controlled Republic fleets were positioned far away from the Core worlds. Sure enough, by the end of that year, thousands of systems had declared independence.

The Collapse of the Republic[]

The Republic fell with a whimper. Thousands of planets declared independence practically overnight. The activities of the cartels increased even more, cutting off hundreds of systems from trade and resources, Republic or not.

On the eve of its collapse, the many Sith that had infiltrated the Republic military vanished without a trace, returning to Vuna for reassignment into the new Sith military. Many were appointed as commanders for ground forces, and many others joined the ranks of the navy.

In the days following the Republic's collapse, as what remained of the government and command structure desperately attempted to reestablish order, Darth Rhayne made a broadcast revealing the existence of the Sith Consulate to the galaxy. During that broadcast, Rhayne, in what was made to appear as a show of good will, offered protection to every system that had left Republic control. Additionally, he declared that any attempt to recapture these planets would be met with hostility.

Many planets took that deal. Most that did not were conquered anyway. As Sith forces spread across the galaxy, establishing control over new systems as they went, Darth Rhayne instructed his apprentice to find her own. Though Darth Pire was more than happy to remain as his apprentice, she followed his command.

She travelled from planet to planet, scouting young Force-sensitive individuals that show potential in the dark side. Each planet she visited still reeled from the loss of the Republic and the activities of the cartels, but none more so than Coruscant. Spending weeks simply observing the populace, she eventually stumbled upon a Chiss family, a rarity in the core worlds. Upon witnessing the youngest son use telekinesis, she knew she had found her mark.

Pire awaited an opportunity to display herself as a hero to the boy, to earn his trust. That day came. Among all of the gangs active on Coruscant, among the most powerful were the Coruscanti Stars. They specifically made targets of non-Near-Human aliens, and those from the Unknown Regions. When they learned of the Chiss family's existence, they moved quickly to kill them. Pire used their attempt on the boy's life as the opportunity she had waited for. Massacring every gang member involved in the attack, she took the family off of Coruscant and back to Vuna. The family was granted immense wealth and privilege, while Pire took the boy and presented him the Darth Rhayne.

Rhayne approved of the boy, allowing Pire to commence his training. From there, Rhayne began to focus on newly-sparked Remnant-Consulate War.

The Remnant-Consulate War[]

Rhayne's forces, during the first years, were wildly superior to those of the out-of-practice Republic. World after world, both those that had seceded and those that had not, fell under the boot of the Consulate and the Sith. Numbering in the hundreds by this time, the Sith themselves became personally involved, leading fleets and armies to further galactic conquest. Rhayne was no exception to this. He commanded his own personal legion of so-called Nova Tempestas soldiers, loyal to his every word.

He participated in a great many battles throughout the years. He and his forces won practically every engagement until the Siege of Naboo.

At the beginning of the war, just before they disappeared, Sith naval officers had taken inventory of the full forces that the Republic's navy had to offer. This, coupled with the spies present in the army, gave the Sith Consulate very good intel on the Republic's capabilities. However, one fleet went unaccounted for during this process. The Republic held a reserve fleet, one which only the Chancellor and their closest associates knew of, and only the Chancellor could activate.

On the eve of the Siege of Naboo, that reserve fleet was activated. It was staffed with the most elite crew members pulled from across the Republic's surviving fleet, with a Jedi commander present on every ship, regardless of size. More importantly, the Republic's last resort, the Unhindered Liberation, a Cancellarius-class super carrier, was part of this fleet, fully commissioned with hundreds of star fighters. It and the rest of the reserve fleet, numbering over a hundred ships in total, took to Naboo's orbit in preparation for an attack.

Rebel Fleet above Scarif

That attack came the following day, with a massive Sith fleet appearing in orbit above Naboo. Surprised by the size of the fleet they faced, the Sith were unable to execute their lightning-warfare tactics, forced to contend with the fleets above while a relatively small ground force was dispatched to the ground.

For days, fighting raged both in space and in the major cities of Naboo, with even the capital city coming under fire, and the Chancellor preparing to flee the planet. Rhayne himself had opted to remain aboard Vitriol Unto Disorder, the Sith's Vitral-class super star destroyer, to assist with the battle. Due to the presence of Unhindered Liberation, however, he was unable to properly utilize Vitriol's firepower on the Republic's fleets. Slowly, but surely, the Sith began losing the battle in space, and due to their already limited resources, the ground campaign came to a screeching halt as well.

After weeks of fighting, and multiple attempts by both sides to directly board the enemy's flagship, the Sith fleet was defeated. Dozens of ships had been lost, and over a hundred Sith had been killed in the fighting. Among the survivors were Darth Rhayne, Darth Pire, and Darth Aureus, who collectively agreed on a full retreat from the Naboo System. With naught but a short, ill-informing warning to the remainder of the fleet, Vitriol Unto Disorder suddenly vanished into hyperspace.

Following that defeat, the Consulate's war effort stalled. Though it had greatly expanded its territory, encompassing nearly double what the Republic Remnant did, the sheer number of forces committed and lost at the Siege of Naboo had dealt a major blow to morale, occupational integrity, and general efficiency. Worlds that had been particularly opposed to Sith occupation shook off their chains, and many that had welcomed them felt the boot of the Sith shift its weight.

Comparatively few battles occurred after the Siege. The Sith, having lost its main force, was forced to spread thin to maintain control across the galaxy, and the Republic lacked the resources to mount a proper offensive. One notable conflict, however, occurred on Shili, the homeworld of the Togruta species. Ostensibly neutral since the beginning of the war, having left the Republic but remaining far removed from the Consulate's reach, the people of Shili had been negotiating with the Republic for a possible resource trade arrangement. As that negotiation came to fruition, Lord Rhayne wished to put an end to it before the Remnant could make use of its newly acquired resources.

Leading a mid-sized task force of Sith ships and a large occupational force, Darth Rhayne arrived in orbit of Shili in late 337 ABY. He was unable to use Vitriol Unto Disorder's massive intimidation factor to his advantage, as the ship required extensive repairs after Naboo. Regardless, the fleet he brought was sufficient in scaring the Shili planetary government into submission, suspending the resource trade arrangement it had met with the Republic. Feeling the pinch from the sudden cessation of trade, however, the Republic Remnant mustered a similarly-sized fleet and quickly dispatched it to Shili.

Battle of shili

Darth Rhayne uses the Force to stop a recently-disabled Star Destroyer from crushing him and his men.

Led by one Admiral Tushcu, the Republic fleet quickly engaged the Sith, while dispatching ground forces to deal with the recently-deployed Consulate occupation forces. Of note, Jedi Masters Cat Peco and Jite Usay were among the Republics forces, along with dozens of Jedi Knights and their two Padawans, Tasy Zana and Aargae Coyshi.

Rhayne himself took part in the ground battle, personally leading his forces against the Jedi, leaving command of the fleet to one Admiral Pa Crofu. Darth Aureus was also present, and was granted a command role over a portion of the Sith's army. Over the course of the battle, Rhayne encountered and killed over twenty Jedi Knights, and personally slew hundreds of the Republic's finest. This, however, was not enough on its own. It became clear to him after nearly two weeks of fighting that the fleet was losing ground, having been reduced to nearly half its strength since the battle started. Analogously, though the Republic's army had taken heavy losses, the Consulate's casualties were similarly grievous. Coupled with the assistance of an underground Togruta resistance movement, Rhayne was forced to retreat from the planet, failing to withhold vital resources from the Republic Remnant.

The Raid on Vuna[]

After his defeat on Shili, Rhayne did not leave Vuna. He remained on his home planet, overseeing the fortification of the world against a Republic attack that most deemed inevitable. He was ashamed of his numerous setbacks since his defeat at Naboo, barely able to even face his former apprentice, Darth Pire. For just over a year he foresaw the dwindling war effort from Vuna, commanding admirals and Sith alike from his secluded throne room. He remained ignorant to the reports of stolen stealth technology from across his territories, as they had, whether by he or his subordinates, been deemed beneath his notice.

The consequences of that stolen tech would soon become apparent, however. In 338 ABY, a year almost to the day after his defeat at Shili, elite Republic special forces, as well as several members of the Jedi Council, conducted a raid on the Consulate throneworld. The assault was three-pronged; one team, Strike Team Skywalker, served as a distraction, sabotaging, with minimal subtlety, a series of major fuel refineries in Vuna's capital city. A second team, Strike Team Organa, attempted to destroy Vitriol Unto Disorder using a strategically placed tactical nuclear weapon. A third team, Strike Team Kenobi, conducted a direct attack against Darth Rhayne and, so they hoped, the rest of the Consuls.

Among the members of Strike Team Kenobi were the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, Yokar Tu, and two renowned Jedi Masters, Tertehr and Kylin Renel. With great speed, they and their men fought their way to the Chamber of the Consuls, where Rhayne and Darth Pire had been consulting the other Consuls, all of whom were off-world.

Death[]

The strike team burst into the room with very little warning, catching Darth Pire by surprise, where Rhayne had sensed the Jedi's presence moments before. The pair stood with a start, drawing their lightsabers in anticipation. The Republic soldiers filed into the room after the Jedi, forming a half-circle around the Consul seats. Grandmaster Yokar was the first to speak, making the very same command that she had given to Rhayne's parents over two hundred years prior. The Neti demanded that Pire and Rhayne surrender to the Republic, to stand trial for their crimes against the galaxy and face justice for the lives they'd snuffed out.

In that moment, Rhayne was granted a vision by the Force. He had never known who had killed his parents. The people of the village in which he had lived had never caught a glimpse of the Jedi responsible for their deaths. Darth Vitral had never been able to divine the culprit in his meditations. Now, however, Darth Rhayne stood before his parents' killer. He felt their death's on Tu's conscience; they were but two of many she regretted having to take. Rhayne saw his parents' last moments from Grandmaster Tu's eyes, felt their lives drain away under her double-bladed lightsaber.

Darth Rhayne: “I never imagined that the Jedi who killed my parents would regret it, but... you really do, don't you?
Yokar Tu: “I do. I truly do wish I hadn't had to take their lives from them.
―Yokar Tu and Darth Rhayne, just before their duel

Yokar's answer angered Rhayne, more strongly than anything had before. The Jedi said she had to kill them. Rhayne internally questioned why the act was necessary. Surely, two old Sith on a backwater planet hadn't warranted a death sentence. He became visibly angry as he regained his composure. Once again, Yokar pleaded with him to surrender.

In response, however, Rhayne merely ignited his lightsaber. He charged forward with almost imperceptible speed, his attack coinciding almost exactly with the arrival of his reinforcements to the Chamber of the Consuls. Yokar ignited her second blade in response, and the two began their duel.

The two dueled for what seemed to be hours, matching each other in skill, power, and speed alike. This was not like Rhayne's duel against that Jedi on Indirio. It was not like Yokar's execution of those two masters on Vuna. These combatants, the absolute peak of their respective practices, were pushed to their limits in this fight. It was the culmination of decades of war, years of incalculable losses, years of feeding a cycle that seemed like it would never come to an end. Both combatants were desperate for an end to the bloodshed, desperate for a peaceful option, but none was ever presented.

In the end, however, Grandmaster Tu proved stronger. Taking advantage of the briefest moment of exhaustion on Darth Rhayne's part, she disarmed him, slashing him across the chest in the process. By that point, Darth Pire and the reinforcements that had arrived were dead, and so none stood to save Darth Rhayne from his fate. In his final moments, he managed to meet Yokar's eyes. Wordlessly, he finally died, a slight smile on his lips.

Legacy[]

In the immediate aftermath of his death, Darth Rhayne was martyred to an extent that had scarcely been seen in the galaxy. His legacy was weaponized, mainly by the likes of Darth Aureus, to scrabble for power and maintain the suddenly quite fragile cohesion of the Sith Consulate. This was extremely successful, and even despite the death of its strongest leaders, the Consulate survived the Raid on Vuna. Aureus, however, was not satisfied, seeking to take the influence granted to him by the memory of Darth Rhayne a step further.

Utilizing Rhayne's reunification of the Sith as historical precedence, Aureus strongly pushed for great reform across the Consulate, especially with regards to how the Sith adepts and masters operated within it. He leveraged his close relationship to Rhayne, being the apprentice of his apprentice, and so was successfully able to push forth his desired reforms among the remaining Consuls, establishing the Phoenix Empire and the High Sith Order. After that, Rhayne continued to be used as the prime example of the potential of individual Sith, becoming nigh-deified alongside his late apprentice, Darth Pire.

Personality & Traits[]

Rhayne was widely known among the Sith for his charisma. As demonstrated by his wrangling of the Hutts and his relative ease in establishing the Sith Consulate, as well as his befriending of Aneti Wazat on his first independent mission, Rhayne knew his way around people. His was able to manipulate them with ease, getting what he wanted out of them rather quickly, and often without the opposing party realizing he had done anything at all. Moreover, this skill demonstrated Rhayne's cunning. Many examples could be found wherein Rhayne used deception to get what he wanted, be it a political advantage, or a more direct objective.

Despite those traits, Rhayne was prone to temper. His allies and enemies alike noted that it was exceptionally easy to drive him to anger with only the slightest of effort. When things did not go his way, particularly when he encountered individuals resistant to his silver tongue, Rhayne was likely to momentarily be consumed by his anger. In situations that called for it, he was able to control this, but more often than not, he partook in what could only be called fits, wherein in the best cases, he would let loose a barrage of insults and sharp repudiations, and at worst, he would attempt to destroy anything in his general vicinity.

Rhayne was nothing if not patient, however. Even after his fits of rage, he would continue to pursue his objectives. During that century when he sought out surviving Sith, going on nothing but a list of names, he quite frequently met dead ends and dead allies. Despite those road blocks, Rhayne succeeded in his goal. This pattern held for many of his endeavors after that, most strongly in his negotiations with the Hutts, with whom he was forced to speak for years before his terms could be met.

With regards to people, Rhayne was quite fickle about those with whom he treated with appropriate dignity. Generally speaking, those that served to offer him or his plans value were those that earned his respect. With those who did not, however, Rhayne was often found to be dismissive and arrogant, if not outright hostile. Those closest to him were among the strongest the Sith Consulate had to offer.

Powers & Abilities[]

Lightsaber Skills[]

Rhayne was not particularly notable for his skills with a lightsaber. Having had his lightsaber training be less than a fifth of his Force training in terms of length, Rhayne leaned toward his Force abilities before his dueling capabilities. That said, his two centuries of experience as a Sith granted him a high level of skill in spite of his lack of training. His master, Darth Vitral, had personally wielded a double-bladed lightsaber, and so had taught him styles and techniques not necessarily conducive to the single-bladed lightsaber style that Rhayne preferred. However, this training, in combination with solo training Rhayne took upon himself, allowed him to develop a unique form of lightsaber combat, of which only he and members of his Sith lineage were users, Horoga. Horoga primarily focused on unrelenting and strong blows, with defense only being truly considered, beyond simple deflection and parrying, in terms of positioning and acrobatics. As such, against foes who neglected defense, Rhayne was especially deadly.

Rhayne defeated at least five Jedi Masters in combat using this form, and many dozens of Knights.

Force Powers[]

Rhayne was among the most powerful Force users to have ever lived. His two centuries of life, and his heavy reliance upon the Force, granted him great power, especially when compared to his contemporaries. He was known to have mastered Force Push, Force Pull, Force Lightning, Mind Trick, Force Choke, Force Bellow, Force Phantoms, Force Destruction, and Darkshear, as well as being credited with the perfection of Force Submission, a practice wherein the Force was used to puppeteer the bodies of other beings, living or dead. Rhayne was also known to have made use of Battle Meditation, though not to quite the extent as the aforementioned powers.

Behind-the-Scenes[]

Darth Rhayne originally had a reference image prepared. After a conversation with the artist, however, the author was informed that it could not be used within the article, leading to Rhayne's current lack of a proper appearance. Additionally, the character of Darth Rhayne was the first created as part of the Days of Wishing fan-made Star Wars Continuity, and much of the continuity's storyline is based around him and his actions.
