He became a Jedi Master in 355 BBY and he became one of the Jedi Masters who led the mobile academy aboard the starship Chu'unthor, which was constructed circa 150 years earlier. After crash-landing on the planet of Dathomir fifteen years later, he and the other Jedi fought with the famed Witches of Dathomir. Coming to a stalemate, Yoda, the leader of the academy, agreed to leave the ship's data tapes although left no means of reading them. The tapes were bestowed to Rell of the Singing Mountain Clan for safekeeping until such a time, Yoda foresaw, when a Jedi would come to save the planet from darkness and the information could safely be shared with the Witches. This did not happen until around 8 ABY, when Yoda's final student, Luke Skywalker, with the help of Kad, would find his way to Dathomir, fulfilling his Master's prophecy.

In 309 BBY, Jedi Councilor Minch died. His place on the Jedi Council was filled by Kad. In 189 BBY he was already a senior member. In 188 BBY, Jedi Padawan Kibh Jeen and his master, Qornah were on a mission on Almas. The Sith fortress on the planet corrupted Kibh, and he killed his master. He then enslaved pirates and he used them to attack the planet Genarius. In 184 BBY the Council assigned him and Jedi Knight Leia-Da-Boda (his first apprentice) to hunt down the Dark Jedi. They gathered an armada formed of ships from the system's various settlements and companies, which they used to crush the pirate fleet. They dueled him in 181 BBY, and were forced to kill him. At their return, he suggested to the Council members that building a Jedi Academy on the other side of the planet would help to mask the dark side energies and prevent similar events. The Council agreed and they built the Almas Academy the next year.

Battle of Ord Namur[]

In 174 BBY, Mandalorians attacked the planet Ord Namur. The Jedi Council assigned him as the leader of the strike team they sent to defend the planet. The team consisted of six Padawans, nine Jedi Knights and four Jedi Masters. When they arrived on the planet, they arrived just in time to defend the Republic Communications Array. They estimated that the Mandalorians had over five thousand troopers on the planet and the Republic trooper numbered less than 1,500. He then elaborated on a plan that consisted of attacking the Mandalorian base, dividing the forces into six parts to attack the six entrances. Every group consisted of three Jedi and two hundred and fifty soldiers, who would attack 850 troopers each one, and one team formed by one Jedi Master and ten elite units would placed explosives. Kad attacked the main entrance with fifty troops more than the other groups, along with his former apprentice Kyp and Kyp's apprentice Ville Vallo. They suffered heavy losses and Ville was wounded, but the explosives decimated the Mandalorian forces. At the end, 478 troopers were killed, 569 others were wounded and three Jedi died.
