Yeah. Twenty years ago you thought we were a minor street gang on some random pathetic criminal world, but look at us now!
—Sharp after conquering a Hutt Cartel base

Imperial Legionnaires were a criminal organization started by a former Ion Team Grand Army of the Republic commando Sharp. He started them at the end of the Clone Wars, and at the time of the last year of the Galactic Civil War the Legionnaires were the most powerful criminal cartel in the galaxy. Sharp started the group as a way to avenge the Galactic Republic, because he didn't like the Galactic Empire, but nether the Rebel Alliance. The Legionnaires were a powerful force in the galaxy and were not to be reckoned with.

The Legionnaires were founded on the world of Alderaan, because that was where Sharp and the Ion Team were stationed during the Clone Wars. When the Ion Team was given Order 66 by Galactic Emperor, formally Supreme Chancellor, Palpatine, Sharp and the team disobeyed the order. The team helped their Jedi General escape, while Sharp bid them farewell and left to Aldera, the capitol of the planet. There, he founded the organization from hiring the local militia, assassins, bounty hunters, pirates, mercenaries, and freelancers.

Mainly, the Legionnaires were made up of hired mercenaries, assassins, militiamen, bounty hunters, and pirates, though after taking criminal operations off world, the ranks of the Legionnaires filled up with operatives from the Empire, Rebels, Black Sun, Hutt Cartel, and Zann Consortium. The cartel had splinter cell agents in pretty much every major galactic organization, allowing them to know all of their enemies current plans and positions.

History[]

Formation[]

In 22 BBY, one of The Galaxy's worst conflicts conflicts erupted between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Sharp was one of the millions of Clone troopers cloned from the Mandalorian Bounty hunter Jango Fett. During the Clone Wars, Sharp fought in the Grand Army of the Republic unit of Ion Team, in which he made a friendship with the rest of the team, including their Jedi leader.

When Order 66 came, Sharp refused to obey it. The Ion Team did too, and helped the Jedi go into hiding. However, Sharp did not and bid them farewell, and left to Aldera spaceport, the planetary capitol. There, sharp hired assassins, mercenaries, bounty hunters, militiamen, pirates, soldiers, and pilots for his new organization: the Imperial Legionnaires. He soon was joined by two of the Ion Team's survivors after it was wiped out by Darth Vader and the 501st Legion, Elite and Host. The two clones became the first Lords, the second-in-commands, and Sharp became the Archon, leader of the organization.

They first committed small and minor crimes on the streets of Aldera, and in Aldera robit, such as murders, robberies, assassinations, and other sorts of crimes. Hiring more and more contacts and troops as the Legionnaires progressed, the group eventually moved most of their people off world, which was good, because in 0 ABY, the world was destroyed by the Death Star. They made their new headquarters on Nar Shaddaa, and also made their first off world base on Khorm nearby.

Soon, they began working for important Imperial politicians and government officials, carrying out tasks for them. Then, they started attacking Imperial strongholds and raiding them, taking prisoners, vehicles, ships, and bases. They hacked the accounts of the Trade Federation, Commerce Guild, Techno Union, Corporate Alliance, and the Banking Clan, giving the Legionnaires billions of credits, which they spent on ships, vehicles, and then they even purchased a small shipyard at a remote nearby world.

By the start of the Galactic Civil War, the Legionnaires boasted over 50,000 men and 100,000 vehicles, and had outposts and bases on over 30 worlds. The Legionnaires were getting stronger and stronger, and attacked both Rebel and Imperial bases. They also began raiding Black Sun and other criminal gang bases.

Rise[]

The Legionnaires started rising up the galactic criminal underworld chain, rivaling the powers of the Hutt Cartel and other major galactic criminal powers such as the Zann Consortium. They eventually owned worlds in the Deep Core and Core Worlds, giving them the advantage of being close enough to the Black Sun base to spy on them.

Legionnaire Branches[]

Ground Forces[]

Ground Forces were the main branch of the Legionnaires and did frontline and main large scale assaults. A quarter of the Legionnaires's members were in the Ground Forces, and the other quarter being Navy. The two other quarters were split between the other branches. Usually, an individual who wants to join has to pass certain tests to be able to join any other branches than Ground Forces or Navy but if they fail than they are put into Ground Forces or Navy, depending on their experiences and talents.

At first, the Ground Forces were made up of hired thugs from the streets and under levels of Nar Shaddaa and Nal Hutta}\, but was eventually made up of elite assassins and bounty hunters, completely loyal to the Legionnaires. The loyalty the Legionnaire troops have to the cartel was unquestionable. Legionnaire Ground Forces were the backbone of the Legionnaires.

They often fought in ground and atmosphere battles, not just space battles, and were used as aerial support and artillery.

Eventually, the Navy grew to a large size, and when it did, the Navy relied heavily on Venator-class Star Destroyers and other ships of the Star Destroyer classes. After the rise of the New Republic, the Navy captured many Imperial troops to work for them and along with them, allot of ground and space vehicles.
