Many Odestrian humans see Rah'Katov as the center of the Imperium, not Odestria.
—Empress Tassania Kopan I

Rah'Katov also known simply as Katov, was a terrestrial world as well as a major planet in the Odestrian Imperium. Once the captial world of the Union of Rah' Katov the planet ceased to be the center of an autonomous region following the restructuring of the Imperial control sectors. Additionally, the planets role as the capital of the Three Star Imperium also served to taint its reputation. Rah'Katov was well known for acting a major source of trade and functions as well as serving as the de-facto homeworld of the Imperium's human population.

Description[]

Crisp blue skies, fertile plains, wild jungles and vast forests and mountains are just a few ways to describe the Odestrian human homeworld Rah’Katov. Orbited by its two moons, Katov Unus and Katov Bisus, the planet had moderate tides and a temperate climate. Orbiting the world were a variety of orbital star ports and customs stations which harbored hundreds of thousands of military personal and civilians.

The landmasses on world were split into several continents, the largest of which being Katov Provincius. On this continent was the administrative capital Katovgrad, a massive walled city which sat, split by the Odesum River. The metropolitan area was filled with various other cities and the city proper boasted numerous green zones within the Castrum. Other major cities on the continent include Odesum, Kentograd and Tath.

Genzzus Provincius was the second largest continent within the southern hemisphere of the planet. The largest city here was the cultural capital of Genzzuslee, named for House Genzzus which was the ruling dynasty of the Odestrian government during the Third Imperium.

Modernization and further integration following the Katov War resulted in heavy urbanization of the population, some farming communities and fishing villages exist outside major urban centers, however most of the planet’s population exists now within Katovgrad, Genzzuslee and other large cities.

History[]

How the original human population came to settle in such a remote part of the Galactic West is unknown, what is known is that the humans of Rah’Katov quickly developed tools and civilization across the planet in various waves of global colonization. Early on in Rah’Katov’s history, the planet was divided into a variety of nation states which would war with each other for long periods of time. During the First Great Expansion, when the forces of the Panasian Union discovered Rah’Katov, the Katovi were already in a state of war exhaustion, the world’s resources and civilizations on the brink of collapse.

Humans were found to be genetically similar to Panasians and when this was discovered the two species developed a kinship which to this day as still remained strong. With the joining of Rah’Katov, the Odestrian Empire was founded and the First Imperium truly began. Throughout the rest of the First Imperium, Rah’Katov served as one of the central and most important planets within the Odestrian state.

The Odestrian Revolution, brought about towards the end of the First Imperium, resulted in that kinship being severed and for the first time since before the Imperium, Rah’Katov was independent. While some of the most unprecedented political unrest racked the Odestrian state, the now independent Katov suffered from economic stagnation and woes. When the empire was reformed into the Imperium, Planets and People of Odestria, and as a far more democratic state, Rah’Katov rejoined.

Fance on Rah'Katov

The Second Imperium saw a new wave of federalism bring a golden age to the Odestrian state and Rah’Katov sat in the center. The planet’s economy sored and humans, who all looked to Katov as their ancient birthplace, worked tirelessly to make the Imperium a safer place. When the Great Imperium War began, and the Imperium began to collapse, Rah’Katov reaffirmed its loyalty to the Silver Throne and the Senatus resulting in the collapse of the Imperium to be prevented. One of the greatest battles of the War took place on Rah’Katov and while the planet was taken in the initial fight, the battle served as a flashpoint for what would ultimately be the shattering of the Fence’s manpower capabilities. When the planet was quickly retaken back in the Genzzus Offensive, it served as a rallying cry across the battered Odestrian planets.

Panokkus Genzzus, the First Emperor of the Genzzus dynasty and the saviour of the Imperium, was a Katovi native and while there were initial concerns that he would shift the capital to Katovgrad, he knew the importance of Odestria and elected to keep the Senatus on world. However, nationalist elements began to arise and during the period of the Third Imperium known as the “Genzzus Wars,” these elements showed their head in the form of the Katovi Liberation Front. When elected to the Katovi Volksraad, the KLF shifted to be known as the Three Star Assembly, repeating the same actions as the Fence did decades before.[6] While the Katovi War resulted in a drastic decrease of Katovi prestige within the Imperium, the world and its populace nevertheless continued to work hard within the Odestrian state.

Throughout the rest of the Third Imperium, Rah’Katov rebuilt its image and remained a center location within Odestrian politics. During the Tri Decim Humilitus it allied against Dajivan’s crazed zealots and joined Panarus Kopan’s True Odestrians. While, Darth Dajivan’s forces never invaded the planet, Rah’Katov was subjected to several orbital blitzes and economic isolation which had a toll on the world’s finances.

Following the end of the War and the subsequent declaration of a New Imperium, Rah’Katov was made the capital of the Inner Imperium once again and subsequently more integrated within the Imperium’s more centralized framework.[8] A rapid response beacon was placed on world with the necessary IFF signal. This would allow the OdestraNav to deploy rapidly to the Rah System, bypassing most standard hyperlanes.

During the Odestra-Zakuul War, Rah’Katov was besieged and invaded by the Human superpower, the Eternal Empire of Zakuul. An overall mysterious nation of zealots, the Zarullans had never been in contact with much of the galactic community until their invasion. When the passed the Besinov veil through an unknown Hyperlane and arrived in the Rah system, Odestrian defense was uncoordinated. Under the leadership of LegatusYeldus Maxim Tarkev, Rah’Katov managed to protect itself from occupation by the Zakuulans and their fleet of automated warships. The successful invasion of the Rah System was later discovered to be on the count of the RRB being hacked and used by the Zakuulan Fleet.

Following the war and the rebuilding of the world, Rah’Katov continued to be an important place of Odestrian power projection.

Economy and Commerce[]

As the de-facto capital of the Inner Imperium, Rah’Katov had existed as a major economic powerhouse within the region of space of millennia. Large in both population and economic potential, Rah’katov was home to numerous businesses and government buildings which act as the foundation of the economic viability of the planet. Odestrian State Arms and Z-tech exist as the largest businesses on world. Z-tech itself provided the manufacturing power for much of the planet’s total exports of technology. Katovi Farms acted as the main, centralized business for agriculture exportations and various businesses work to create other manufactured goods.

Since the urbanization of much of Katov’s population, most employed people on world worked in the service or manufacturing sectors. Katovgrad itself, boasted numerous military and factory districts. The Green zones included numerous parks and recreational facilities that sought to employ numerous Katovi citizens. Mining and fishing comprised various internal businesses with fishing villages and towns being the few settlements to survive the urban migration most of the Katovi population underwent.

While initially the sole economic center within the Inner Imperium, the growth of Sevi VI and Bestria following the Katov Wars during the early Third Imperium resulted in the two worlds becoming economic rivals for the human world. While the most devastating blow the planet took was the invasion by Zakuul, Rah’Katov ultimately took its supremacy back as the central economy within the Inner Imperium.

Behind the Scenes[]

Rah'Katov was developed by the author to give the large human population of the Odestrian Imperium a central planet of their own. The world was further developed when the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion came out for Star Wars the Old Republic. The author wanted to include a major Odestrian world which would be attacked by the Eternal Fleet and so he chose Rah'Katov, developing the world from there.
