Behind the scenes[]

Development[]

Austin Bishop first created the Davik Kane Files in December of 2009. Davik Kane was originally set to be a mercenary traveling the galaxy in search of his past. Bishop eventually changed the plot because he claimed it was too similar to Star Wars: Red Talon, another novel by Bishop. Bishop then decided to make it a collection of short stories.

Release[]

On July 16, 2011, Bishop released Rookie Blues, the first short story written in the Davik Kane Files. Then on October 14, 2011, he released Long Road to Ruan. The first part of the third story, The Beast of Berdon, was released on February 4, 2012.

Reception[]

Since its release, Rookie Blues has received mixed to positive reviews. Friend and fellow Fanoneer, Josh Bender, said that Rookie Blues was his "favorite story that [Bishop] wrote". In the 2011 Short Story contest, Rookie Blues was nominated under three categories, garnering first place in two out of the three categories. The second story, Long Road to Ruan, has received less than positive feedback.
