"The Clone Wars Legacy" was a multimedia project for Star Wars: The Clone Wars in different formats namely animation reels, comic books and novels following the cancellation of the series in 2014. The stories were confirmed as canon by Lucasfilm.
Development[]
On October 11, 2013, Dave Filoni announced on his Facebook page that production for all remaining The Clone Wars episodes had finished and they would all be released, possibly on television, sometime in early 2014. The content was rumored to be released on Apple TV, but it was released on Netflix. Filoni also announced that a four-episode arc from Season Six would be adapted into a comic, titled Star Wars: Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir, prior to its being branded as The Clone Wars Legacy.
StarWars.com officially revealed the brand name, The Clone Wars Legacy, on September 25, 2014, at which time the four-episode "Crystal Crisis on Utapau" arc was released online in the form of animated story reels, that was originally to appear in season six.
It was also announced, a novel written by Christie Golden that stars Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos titled Dark Disciple to be released in July 7th, 2015 that is based off an eight episode arc originally to appear in season seven. An arc consisting of four episodes known as "The Bad Batch" which was suppose to be the opening arc for season seven were screened in story reel format at Celebration Anaheim and released on StarWars.com shortly.
Other unreleased arcs, have been hinted by The Clone Wars cast and crew as well as going into detail about the arcs and showing off concept arc and clips of them in story reel form. In late 2016, it was announced on StarWars.com by Dave Filoni that the Bad Batch on Kashyyk arc consisting of four episodes that was talked about at Star Wars Celebration and even screened a clip of it in animation reel form, was to be adapted as a four series comic book, it would have featured Yoda, Clone Force 99 and Echo who recently joined them following his rescue by the Bad Batch, Anakin Skywalker and Rex from Techno Union custody in the "The Bad Batch" arc. The comic book series, was released on October 3, 2016.
The Bounty Hunters arc was into detail at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2015 showing off concept art and clips of encounters with Tusken Raiders. At Star Wars Celebration 2017, a clip was screened showing a face off between Boba Fett and Cad Bane. The arc was finally seen fully and was adapted into story reel form and was put online on StarWars.com in June 10, 2017.
Following Ahsoka's reappearance on Rebels and getting her own novel known as Ahsoka that takes place during the rise of the Galactic Empire and making references and flashbacks from The Clone Wars. Filoni announced on StarWars.com that she would be getting her own second novel that would be based off unproduced episodes of The Clone Wars following her departure from the Jedi Order. Two arcs that Filoni talked about at Celebration, titled Ahsoka's Walkabout and Return of the Jedi.
Son of Dathomir (Comic)[]
"Star Wars: Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir" was a four part series comic book adapting four unproduced episodes of The Clone Wars for the sixth season being moved from the fifth season. It follows the events of the episode of The Clone Wars episodes "The Lawless" after being captured by Darth Sidious.

"Dark Disciple" is a novel written by Christie Golden based off of the scripts of an 8-episode arc from Seasons 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The arc features Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos. The novel released on July 7, 2015.

"Kashyyk" is a four episode arc that was adapted into a comic book form written by Matt Michnovetz with production codes 6.17 - 6.20, starred Yoda and the Bad Batch on Kashyyyk. Echo would also be in the arc, as a new member of the Bad Batch. The comic book series was released on October 3, 2016.

The Bounty Hunters arc was a four-episodic arc for season seven. It would feature as well show the fates of Cad Bane and Boba Fett revealing their fates as well. The arc was released on StarWars.com in story reel form on June 10th, 2017.

Ahsoka (Novel)[]
Following Ahsoka's reappearance in Star Wars Rebels, Filoni said he written twelve episodes (three story arcs) that Ahsoka appeared in and take place after she leaves the Jedi Order in the season five finale "The Wrong Jedi". Filoni, announced on his Facebook page of an Ahsoka novel that takes place during the Clone Wars would adapt two of the arcs from The Clone Wars that were unproduced. Filoni, mentioned the third arc would be the series' finale, which he didn't want to showcase in the novel. The novel will release November 5th, 2017.

Rex & R2 Top Guns (Reels)[]
Brent Friedman, a writer on The Clone Wars said that Rex had been a main focus in the upcoming seasons, one of the arcs Friedman talked about was a four part arc originally created for Season 8 which Rex would have been "stuck" with R2-D2 as a result of rivalries between servicemen. The arc, was later adapted as an animation reel and put on StarWars.com on August 5, 2018.

Return to Mon Cala (Comic)[]
A four-part story arc, which would have the reappearance of Mon Cala and featured Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker returning to Mon Cala to meet with Prince Lee-Char once again. Brent Friedman announced that the arc would be released as a comic book series which would be released in December 13, 2019.
