The dust cleared, its go time!
—Armed Forces commander

The National Armed Forces, also called the Coalition Armed Forces, was the unified military of the Galactic National Coalition. It was made up of four branches: the National Army, National Navy, National Air Force, and National Marine Corps. It also had three independent services: Military Police, Military Intelligence, and the Missiles Agency. Each branch was led by a chief of staff, and each service was led by a director. All branches and services coordinated closely. It was overall commanded by the president, who was the supreme commander.

During the Unification Wars, starting in 25,060 BBY, the Armed Forces carried out offensives against other factions, most notably the Askajian Empire. The National Armed Forces were noted to have the most advanced technology out of the factions taking part. When the war ended in 25,053 BBY and the Galactic Republic was formed, the new Galactic Senate was based on the Coalition one.

Structure[]

The military was under overall command of the Unified Military Staff, which answered directly to the government. Staffs for individual branches were under that, which gave army and fleet groups orders. The officers of the combined groups coordinated armies and fleets, as well as Marine and Air Force units, which were often outside of the normal structure.

Army[]

The Army was the main ground force of the Coalition military. It was comprised of hundreds of thousands of well trained and armed soldiers, using various vehicles of war. The Army was also one of the larger branches. It was made up of field armies, which were often combined into army groups. Armies themselves were made up of divisions of various types (infantry, armored, artillery, etc). Several higher education colleges were located in the Core Worlds.

However, the Army was the lowliest viewed branch, generally disliked by other branches. It also was the least funded, with the Navy and Air Forces getting the most. During the Unification Wars, it was known to draft. It also worked a lot with the Marine Corps.

Navy[]

The Navy was the spacebourne fleet of the Coalition military. It was made up of hundreds, possibly thousands of vessels, such as destroyers, cruisers, transports, and others; with even more personnel. The Navy was also the most funded branch. It operated heavily with the Air Force and the Marine Corps. The Navy was split into multiple fleet groups, made up of fleets. They themselves included various squadrons and flotillas. Several units were known to have been outside of this structure.

During the war, the Navy was stretched defending from several attacking factions, mainly the Askajian Empire, Ignacian Militia, and a few other factions. The Imperial Askajian Navy was considered the National Navy's only direct rival; the faction Outer Rim Confederation also possessed a large navy but rarely engaged Coalition forces.

Air Force[]

The Air Force was the aerial arm of the Coalition military. It fielded various small craft, such as fighters, bombers, landers, shuttles, gunships, and others, working in coordination with the Navy. It was also the second most funded branch of the military, with the Navy being the first. It was also on good terms with the Marines.

Marine Corps[]

The Marine Corps was the naval infantry of the Coalition military. It was also considered the most elite branch, acting often times as the special forces. The Corps was split up into various divisions, attached mostly to fleets but sometimes also armies. The Marines were also the only ones on good terms with the Army, often working with them. It was said that the Marines received the best equipment, weapons, and training.

The Corps also had a small aviation unit, though it was considered by other Marines to be worse than the Air Force.
