Rise of the Empire era

General, we have been summoned to Hoth. The Sepps made a large droid factory there.

CC-1138, nicknamed Bacara, was a clone trooper marshal commander in the Grand Army of the Republic's Galactic Marines. He later commanded the Empire's Imperial Marines after the Sith Lord Darth Sidious had overthrown the Republic under the disguise of Palpatine.

Biography[]

Early life[]

He was born in 32 BBY on the Galactic Republic aquatic Wild Space world of Kamino, and was one of the millions of clones of the Mandalorian Bounty hunter Jango Fett. He was given advanced Advanced Recon Commando training by Jango himself. After graduating as a marshal commander from Kamino, he was given command of the Galactic Marine unit and was sent to Hoth, where the Confederacy of Independent Systems had made a large droid factory base.

Outer Rim Sieges[]

When Bacara returned to the war and his men, his new-found individuality spread quickly throughout the upper echelon of the Galactic Marines. Being one of the most independent and outspoken of the ARC commanders, Bacara expected nothing but the best from the soldiers under his command. Wanting only the best to serve in the Galactic Marines, Bacara would not hesitate to transfer to another unit whose troopers failed to meet his high expectations. Excellent training fostered camaraderie, and camaraderie fostered attention to detail—when soldiers developed a fraternal bond with those they served with, they often chose to take extra measures to ensure their fellow soldiers survived. Bacara used Alpha-17's training program as a guide, and drilled the Galactic Marines into an elite unit, which was often called upon to act as a quick reaction force anywhere within the galaxy. Bacara's dedication to his troops, combined with his aggressive tactics, earned the clone the admiration of his leader, the Jedi Ki-Adi-Mundi.

Bacara's drilling of the Galactic Marines would eventually prove its worth during the brutal Battle of New Bornalex. The battle witnessed Bacara lead the Marines in fighting against the combined Separatist–Mandalorian defensive force; the Marines were also using a prototype strength-enhancing armor during the fighting. Mid-way through the battle, the weapons of the experimental armor failed, leaving Bacara and his Marines with only their hands to fight. Refusing to retreat, Bacara ordered his forces to continue the fight—using their enhanced strength, the Marines literally tore apart the B2 super battle droids which they were fighting, eventually decimating the enemy forces. Due to the fierce fighting that they demonstrated on New Bornalex, the Galactic Marines earned a ferocious reputation—one which Bacara was extremely proud of.

As the war progressed, Bacara and his Galactic Marines saw action on dozens of worlds throughout the course of the various campaigns, from the muddy fields of Boz Pity and Aargonar to the snow-capped peaks of Rhen Var. Likewise, Bacara and Ki-Adi-Mundi also led the Galactic Marines on several worlds during the Outer Rim Sieges whose names had been lost to time. On one such world, Bacara fought alongside Ki-Adi-Mundi and Jedi Knight Rivi-Anu against an entrenched Separatist enemy who had managed to cripple a Venator-class Star Destroyer. The Star Destroyer threatened to crash on the battlefield and destroy the entire area—Rivi Anu, however, used the Force to keep the damaged ship aloft just enough to allow Ki-Adi-Mundi, Bacara, and the other Republic forces to retreat to relative safety. Once her allies had made it to safety, Anu allowed the Star Destroyer to fall, which killed her in the ensuing explosion. Following the battle, Bacara announced that he had received a transmission during the battle which ordered himself, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and the Galactic Marines to the snow-covered world of Mygeeto.

Bacara and Ki-Adi-Mundi oversaw the transportation of the Galactic Marines to Mygeeto, where the InterGalactic Banking Clan had become the next target of the Republic. Along with the Marines, several detachments of the 501st Legion were sent to the icy world in the execution of Project Hammertong, a top-secret mission aimed at acquiring a power crystal for a secret super-weapon of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's. Although he did not know the exact reason behind the involvement of the 501st, which was at the specific request of Palpatine, Ki-Adi-Mundi was greatly concerned about the 501st operating on Mygeeto. His reasoning being that the 501st operated outside of his control, and for a reason he could not identify, that made him feel uneasy. Bacara, however, assured Ki-Adi-Mundi that his suspicions were unfounded, and that the men of the 501st were there to simply assist them in their assault on Mygeeto.

The fight for Mygeeto eventually degenerated into an extended campaign of urban fighting amid the massive ruins of the Mygeeto cityscape. During the push against the Separatist forces, Bacara led his Galactic Marines in the taking of the city Jygat. This battle saw Bacara order the use of glacier-busters, a type of weapon whose seismic shocks could be felt miles away. Along with Ki-Adi-Mundi, Bacara led the Galactic Marines through fierce firefights from house to house, slowly beginning to push the Separatist defenders back. In an effort to slow the Republic advance, the Separatists used their enormous tri-droids to lay waste to the cities. The Republic, likewise, used their artillery pieces to hammer the enemy, but managed to only aid in pounding the landscape into rubble. As a result of the incessant artillery bombardments from both sides, the skies of Mygeeto were a constantly dark gray ash which was carried by the icy winds across the planet.

Order 66[]

As the fighting for Mygeeto's capital city worsened, Bacara received Order 66 via an encrypted channel directly from Palpatine—Order 66 effectively labeled Ki-Adi-Mundi, along with the rest of the Jedi, as traitors and enemies of the Republic. Even though he had a grudging respect for Ki-Adi-Mundi and the other Jedi, Bacara's ultimate loyalty lay with Palpatine and the Republic, and he did not hesitate when given the order from his supreme commander. As the General led the Marines in a charge against the Separatists, Bacara and the surrounding troopers stopped, raised their rifles, and gunned down the bewildered Jedi in a hail of blaster fire. Bacara was later glad that he had killed the Jedi Master, as he considered the Jedi to have been traitors for trying to overthrow the government.

Post Clone Wars[]

Around 13 BBY, Bacara was selected to lead his Imperial Marines in an attempt to defeat the fledgling Rebel Alliance on the desert world of Kazar Rhilienn. A squadron of five AT-AP walkers were dispatched by Imperial dropships in the barren dune sea of Quaret Alee, there Bacara ordered them to march on the rebel fortress. Riding in Dusty Herd One, Bacara position his assault pods and their heavy laser artillery in such tactically strategic positioning that most of the rebels fled under cover of darkness that night. The next morning the five Imperial walkers opened fire, totally destroying the fortress and reducing it into little more than piles of rock and dust.

Later career[]

Around 18 BBY, Bacara had been given a trial medical treatment to slow down the genetic age advancement that the Kaminoan cloners had used so that they could grow clones quickly for the Republic's Grand Army. The trial was successful and Bacara's aging slowed to that of other human species. One of Bacara's last actions before enforced retirement was to lead the Snowtroopers of General Maximilian Veers Blizzard Force during the Battle of Hoth, then at the age of 53 and already promoted to the rank of Grand Marshal. It was Bacara's Snowtroopers that overan the Rebel's trenches. Bacara himself deployed from the walker Blizzard 2 shortly before it was destroyed by rebel Snowspeeders, following his ground troops he rode his personal speeder bike into the hangar of Echo Base and linked up with Darth Vader's personal battle group. There Bacara met with the Sith Lord who was in a furious rage after failing to capture his main objectives of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa. When he entered the hangar the scene was like something he hadn't seen since the Clone Wars, a number of Snowtroopers of the 501st Legion were hanging from the frozen ceiling, all had died at Vader's hands in punishment for failing to capture Skywalker or the Princess.

Later Life and Retirement[]

On retiring from the Imperial Forces, Bacara received a special award from Emperor Palpatine personally in a magnificent ceremony held on Coruscant. After retirement Bacara headed to the one place he called home to live out his final years, Kamino.

Personality[]

Bacara was as ruthless as he was cold hearted yet never ever matched that shown by his masters the Dark Lords of the Sith, Sidious and Vader. A man of few emotions, he had few friends, but one was fellow clone marshal commander Neyo. Both being born on Kamino and trained by the legendary Bounty hunter Jango Fett. Later as Bacara's military career advanced he became Neyo's commanding officer and looked on him as a younger sibling.

Bacara was a noted military tactician, he'd instructed the likes of Jan Dodonna and Carlist Rieeken before their defection to the Rebel Alliance.

Equipment[]

Part of the Galactic Marines, Bacara participated in fierce fighting campaigns, such as the Battle of New Bornalex. During the battle, Bacara and his unit wore experimental strength-enhancing armor. Despite the prototype armor's malfunction during the battle, the defected armor allowed Bacara to engage B2 super battle droids in hand-to-hand combat. After New Bornalex, Bacara began to sport Phase II clone trooper armor, which he utilized on Mygeeto. Because of Mygeeto's weather conditions, the Clone Commander's helmet featured blizzard protection side plates, and his armor's leggings had kneecap armor. During the early days of the Battle of Mygeeto, Bacara sported a white macrobinocular on his helmet, a utility belt, and wore an ammunition pouch bandolier. Later, Bacara added an anti-blast kama, and a pauldron, to his Phase II armor set. His kama and pauldron sported maroon-colored decorations. Bacara carried a DC-15 blaster rifle and a DC-15 blaster carbine in battle.
