Star Wars - The First Trilogy is the conceptual idea of what if the Prequels were made before the Original Trilogy. Many ideas of the Canon Prequel Trilogy remain (Names, Locations, etc.), but, a lot of them were not introduced.
Back in 1960, a director known as Jack Curtis, inspired by Flash Gordon, created an idea of a Rebel Group fighting against an Evil Galactic Empire after his 1964 sci-fi horror film, The Flesh Eaters, bombed at the box-office. When Star Wars first released in theaters in 1965, It was considered one of the greatest films of the 1960s, It quickly became a staple of American Pop Culture. It's popularity warranted a sequel named Episode II: Attack of the Clones, causing Star Wars to be renamed Episode I: The Phantom Menace, in the year 1970.
Like Episode 1, Episode 2 was considered a classic, topping the Box Office for that year. Grossing more than what The Phantom Menace made. In 1972, The Third Star Wars film, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, took the world by storm, Revenge of the Sith transformed Star Wars from a Sci-Fi Trilogy into a Pop Culture Phenomenon. After the First Trilogy was finished, a young director named George Lucas decided to continue the story with the Second Trilogy, starting with Episode IV: A New Hope, ending with Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and eventually JJ Abrams with Episode VII: The Force Awakens, beginning the Third Trilogy.
