The Confederacy of the Barakian Fence more commonly known as the Fence Confederacy or simply the Fence, was a temporarily recognized polity that emerged when the Barakian Fence fell under the control of the nationalist "ZIMERE!" party. The Fence quickly declared independence from the Odestrian Imperium while the Imperium was reeling from economic stagnation and political stasis. While initially recognized by the Odestrian government, relations soon broke down and the Confederacy was declared an illegal state.
Built on the vast industrial potential of the Barakian Fence, Friez Zamiliev, his cousin Kilox Zamiliev and the military genius Kemik Fance ruled the Confederacy as a military junta. In 3973 BBY, the Great Imperium War broke out in Odestrian Space and ravaged the sector for a brutal four years. During this conflict, the Confederacy was nearly successful in bringing the Imperium to its knees. Having put all major resources into one final strike, an automated fleet led an attack on Odestria and ravaged the surface in the hopes of ending the conflict. While the Imperium collapsed, the Odestrian faction kept fighting the now bankrupt state until the destruction of Barakua during Operation Deep Wound.
