Et Rex was a male alien Jedi Master serving the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic during the Jedi Renaissance following the death of Darth Sidious. A thin anthropomorphic avian, Rex had light blue skin and twisting cranial horns.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Et Rex was discovered near birth to be Force-sensitive and sent to the Coruscant Jedi Temple for training in the ways of the Force. Entering into the academy there, Rex eventually graduated and was selected by a Jedi Master for training as a Padawan. After years of one-on-one training, Rex would have completed his Trials of Knighthood and made a Knight by the Jedi High Council.
In 25 BBY, Rex was partnered with his good friend and fellow Knight, Jedi Alysun Celz. Piloting the Consular-class space cruiser the Radiant IX, Celz fell to the dark side of the Force and attempted to draw Rex into her madness. When he refused Celz reported to the Council that Rex was a maniac, framing him for her several evil deeds. En route to Coruscant to imprison the innocent Jedi the cruiser was attacked by a flock of mynocks, causing the ship to crash on the Poison Moon in the Hoth system. Stranded, Celz killed all of her crew with bolts of lightning from her fingertips while Rex went into hiding on the asteroid's surface.
When the Radiant IX did not arrive at the Temple, the High Council dispatched Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, to search for and detain the supposed Dark Jedi Et Rex. When they discovered the wrecked cruiser the team searched the body-littered ship for signs of life when they were attacked by a blaster-wielding figure. Revealed to be Celz, she feigned relief and remained with Skywalker as Kenobi searched for the reportedly dangerous Rex. Outside, Kenobi discovered the accused Jedi Rex who revealed the true events that had unfolded on the ship. Racing back inside, Kenobi ignited his lightsaber to deflect the lightning that Celz had unleashed upon Skywalker. Rex aided in the rescue by hurling two mynocks at the Dark Jedi, distracting her long enough for Kenobi to detain her. Bound in a Force-dampening device, Celz was placed under arrest and taken back to Coruscant for judgment by the High Council.
The Clone Wars[]
Years after his test aboard the Radiant IX, Rex was involved in debates at the Galactic Senate as the Separatist Crisis erupted across the galaxy. A respected Consular and diplomat, Rex worked closely with Senator Lexi Deo ensuring pro-Jedi legislation was passed and the anti-Jedi movement that seemed to sweep Coruscant was kept at bay. When the Clone Wars erupted, Rex was assigned to the Senate Building to ensure the gathered politicians' safety while the bulk of Jedi on Coruscant traveled to Geonosis. Taking up the rank of General in the Grand Army of the Republic, Rex was a prominent negotiator in the field and often consulted with Master Kenobi on technique and policy. Rex even earned the respect of several prominent Senators in the Confederacy such as Toonbuck Toora whose general disdain for the Jedi was put aside during her talks with Rex.
When the war came to an end with the shocking execution of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who was actually the alter-ego of Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, Rex reported to the Senate to aid Master Windu in calming the Senators who were wary of the Jedi's involvement in the Chancellor's death. When evidence arose to the corruption of the Chancellor, Rex worked directly under the Council of Reconciliation to ensure a smooth transition from a triumvirate formed from Master Windu, Senator Organa, and Admiral Tarkin to the administration of democratically-elected Chancellor Bail Organa. Rex remained on Coruscant for many years as the Republic and the Confederacy learned to cooperate in peace and the Jedi Order relocated their academy to the ancient fortress worlds Ossus and Tython. Elevated to the rank of Master, Rex took on his second Padawan during the Jedi Renaissance training her at the Coruscant Temple, which had been converted into an academy devoted to the education of Jedi diplomats and ambassadors. Following his apprentice's elevation to the rank of Knight, Rex was appointed as an instructor at the Order' political academy and instructed Jedi Knights and Masters in the finesse of negotiations during conflict.
Twenty-five years after the death of Darth Sidious, Rex was approached by High Council member Glynn-Beti who wished for him to replace her on the august body. Agreeing to the appointment, Rex traveled to Ossus to take up his new position as one of the twelve leaders of the Order. Contributing his knowledge of politics to the Council, Rex maintained a cordial relationship with Grand Master Tomac Moorce and a close friendship with Lordes Fi, a meditative Cathar Jedi who had studied at the political academy for many years. The High Council's direct link to the Senate throughout his time on the Council, Rex stepped down after nine years of service and was replaced by famed Jedi Shadow Mara Jade. Following his departure from the Council, Rex left Ossus and returned to the Coruscant Temple to work as senior instructor until his death at the age of ninety-four standard years old.
