The Eriadu Droid Foundry was a massive underground complex beneath Eriadu City on the planet Eriadu.
Characteristics[]
Only four entrances and exits existed in the foundry. The main entrance was a guarded elevator which led from the surface down into the factory, used for transporting personnel in and out. The second entrance was a secret door inside the throne room of the Eriadu City Palace. The third exit was a one-way emergency elevator that led to a small concealed hangar, containing an escape shuttle. The fourth exit was a large room filled with freight elevators for transporting the factory's products to the surface.
The functions of the factory were controlled by a series of command terminals in various small control stations throughout the complex, each of which were slave-linked to a master control terminal in its own room. The standard command terminals each controlled a sector of the factory, and could adjust the speed of construction, what resources were used to make components, and assign maintenance and guard duties to the droids and workers stationed in the complex. The master control terminal was capable of overriding the commands of all the other terminals in the factory, and could be uploaded with schematics for virtually any droid, starship, or weapon which fit within the core parameters of the foundry's capabilities. Additionally, the master terminal controlled some of the defensive systems, such as turrets and shielding over factory equipment. It could also seal all exits except for the emergency escape route.
After the facility's construction, a cache of battle droids and other military assets originally belonging to the Confederacy of Independent Systems was found on Eriadu. All of it was broken into raw materials for recycling except for the B2 Battle Droids and Droidekas, which were reprogrammed to act as guards for the complex after being discerned as most effective in close-quarter engagements. Security was also maintained by defensive turrets, Phase I Dark troopers, Mark 1 droid walkers, and sentry droids. The numerous terminals, conveyor belts, and other factory equipment was crewed and monitored almost entirely by ASP-7 labor droids and other automatons. The only organics who permanently stayed in the facility were a crew of Imperial workers, which while large in numbers was outnumbered three to one by the droids. They were unnerved at the large amount of droids endlessly patrolling the corridors, and few were willing to go anywhere in the complex alone. After receiving paranoid requests, worries, and complaints, high command agreed to send a squad of Stormtroopers into the facility each week for a security check, which helped ease the anxiety somewhat.
History[]
Shortly after the beginning of the Dark Order War, during the Imperial occupation of Eriadu, Darth Persia of the Dark Order of Korr ordered the construction of this complex as part of a new doctrine of strategy and tactics which required the commissioning of various heavy weapons to be constructed more abundantly and faster than the Dark Order's capabilities allowed at the time. Unknown to Jaden Korr, the Dark Order's leader, Persia diverted more resources and men to the foundry's construction than Jaden's Operation Dark Disease. Jaden likely would not have approved had he been notified, but due to the lack of communication between himself and his underlings, the Dark Jedi never learned of it. Following the reformation of the Dark Order into the Greater Sith Empire, the foundry became known as one of the most invaluable factories in the entire empire.
