Ené Vetamoid, born Ené Warsilo, was the tenth royal handmaiden to Padmé Amidala, and a rebel pilot later in life. She was the mother to Tolia Vetamoid.
Biography[]
Early Life (52 BBY to 33 BBY)[]
Ené Warsilo was originally born in the lake country, but was only three years old when her parents moved to Theed, her father taking a position in the militia. She followed his example, having developed a love of piloting from a very young age. She was known as one of the best pilots in the militia when she took an interest in becoming a handmaiden for Padmé Amidala should she be elected, as she was an ardent supporter of the then Princess of Theed. She was chosen by Panaka as both a bodyguard and as a soothing influence in the group, and for the Queen.
Handmaiden (32 BBY to 24 BBY)[]
Ené had already been acquainted with both Losté Maiterrie and Ardré Kartik through the militia, and during their training all three became good friends. Ené and Losté grew especially close, as Losté also developed a love of flying. The two of them would train together whenever they could, and would become one of the best teams in the militia.
During the Trade Federation invasion and occupation of the planet, Ené would suffer a painful facial burn from a battle droid blaster, leaving her with scars that she would ultimately choose to keep. Ené in fact had a particular dislike for violence, and while she engaged in much of it by necessity in her life, she allowed the scars to act as a small reminder of its cost.
Full-Time Pilot (24 BBY to 0 BBY)[]
She and Losté would fight together in the Clone Wars, during which they would also marry together and bear children together; Ené took as her husband Melio Vetamoid and named her daughter Tolia Vetamoid. They would also swear their oaths almost simultaneous to avenge Amidala's death on the Emperor, though for several years after this, their lives were not much affected. However, when in 14 BBY all the former handmaidens were forced to flee Naboo, they paid the highest price, leaving behind their husbands and young children. Ené never saw either of hers again.
The two of them together first stole a pair of Y-Wings, than commandeered a blockade runner, naming it the Padmé Amidala, for the handmaidens' use. They would be in charge of both the navigation and the weapons systems of the ship, though Ené had less to do with the latter. Later, when the group formally joined the Rebel Alliance, the two of them would often be temporarily assigned to squadrons and participate in their missions.
They would be especially active as pilots in the months just before the Battle of Yavin. During this time, however, Ené would have an altercation with Garven Dreis over his accidental appropriation of her astromech droid R2-E9. Many would later comment on their memory of the sight of her violently waving a large hydrospanner. She herself, however, would be one of the first causalities of the battle over the first Death Star. Losing her flying partner would result in Losté grounding herself for nearly two years.
