Our faith dictates that we maintain neutrality. Vantriaem shall not go to war.
Elysium Minister Kaletrasis Montane, referring to Vantriaen refusal to join the Galactic Civil War

The Elysian Nation of Vantriaem, also known as the Elysian Kingdom of Vantriaem, was a Theocratic Demesne of the Ethereal Demesnes, a minor interstellar government and voting member of the Diet of the Ethereal Demesnes. Originally, the government's homeworld, Vantriaem, was colonized under administration of House Ladruvex, an Ethereal House from Arcuvium. However, over time, democratically-elected and religious authorities came to have more or equal power to the nobility, and thus, the relative power of the Elysium Kings and Queens diminished, in favor of the elected representatives of the Elysian Holy Parliament, from among whom the King or Queen would select the Elysium Minister.

In the immediate aftermath of the Ethereal Empire's ancient disappearance from the face of {{l|The galaxy|the galaxy]], the Protectorate of Arcuvium was among the more spiritual of the region's monarchies. However, as the ensuing centuries went on and the Diet of the Ethereal Demesnes was created and rose to regional prominence, Arcuvium's overt spirituality faded away. The noble family of House Ladruvex was among those families that maintained their prior religious traditions, and so, rather than risk conflict with their fellow Arcuvans, House Ladruvex and their supporters sought approval for a colonial charter from the Diet, with support of Arcuvium's ruling House Keldrick and the Arcuvan state.

Subsequently, their colonial charter granted, House Ladruvex and many of Arcuvium's more spiritual citizens gradually relocated to the new colony of Vantriaem. In time, their beliefs shifted, and came to emphasize values such as peace, neutrality, cooperation, and nonviolence except in defence of oneself or of the innocent. Thus, Vantriaem never became even a minor expansionist power, its military just large enough to protect itself from its neighbors. When the planet achieved voting membership in the Diet, it was no longer even officially named as a monarchy, having chosen the more generic identifier of "Nation" to describe its government, though the monarchy did legally remain.

By the time of the Galactic Civil War, Vantriaem was still heavily opposed to violence. In fact, even when most of the Demesnes officially rose up in rebellion against the Galactic Empire and launched a blockade of the only four reliable entrances to the region, Vantriaem would only condone the declaration of independence and provide purely civil, non-military support to the other Demesnes, working to maintain the region's economy and supplies of food and medical supplies during the war. Previously, during the Clone Wars, Vantriaem had deployed its armed forces on an active combat mission for the first time in centuries, resisting the desperate final striking invasion by the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the war's final days. But, during the resistance against the Galactic Empire, Vantriaen authorities refused to deploy their military unless the Empire invaded Demesnes space, which never happened.
