It all started over a million years ago, when the Celestials, a great force of godlike beings, arrived in our galaxy. Their capability was only limited by the amount of power they could harness, and control; and that was far more than anyone nowadays could possibly imagine. These beings used technology to practice celestial engineering on a spectacular scale, but in so doing created something that, perhaps, the Galaxy would have been better off without, a machine that could harness enormous amounts of energy, by destroying stars.
—Wattesh to Cade Skywalker on the Eliminator
The Eliminator was a titanic weapon built by the Celestials and Makuta many millenia ago and aquired by the Sith in secret tens of millennia prior to the battle of Yavin. The weapon had the power to destroy entire star systems, blasting the central star into a supernova, leaving a black hole to swallow up the remaining bodies in orbit. Over tens of millennia the reigning dark lords of the Sith continued constructing the device, turning it from a huge astronomical building machine into a weapon of terror to one day unleash on their Jedi foes. The weapon was destroyed at the battle of Vitea, after Darth Krayt attempted to use it to destroy the Sandexi system.
The following heavenly bodies were attacked by the eliminator:
- Ghuhar (destroyed)
- Rafleen prime (black hole)
- Wyyria II (star) (black hole)
- Sandexi (survived)
Technology[]
The Eliminator was once similar to the Centerpoint station, but through countless generations of Sith changes and manipulations, the gargantuan weapon barely resembled its former twin. The device’s primary weapon was a rupture generator, which created a ray that fired at the target star, creating a black hole-like effect, rupturing its core and causing it to collapse, as any star does when it dies. First- unless the star in question was a giant already- it grew, bloating into an enormous red giant and consuming everything in its path. After this it would explode in a blinding supernova, melting the crusts of most of its planets. Finally, the remains of the star would form a black hole, consuming the remains of the system. The only remainder was a deadly black hole, as if the system never existed in the first place. Huge amounts of energy were required to power the weapon, which could not only destroy stars, but easily deal with individual planets, creating a gravitational pull in their core and causing them be crushed from the inside and obliterated. Apart from this doomsday device, the Eliminator was armed with numerous other weapons that were implemented by its various owners throughout history, including superlasers, that were added by the Galactic Empire. Overall the weapon was over 5000 kilometres in length, and 1000 kilometres wide.
History[]
Have the Jedi see it for once... let them shudder at its presence, let them grieve helplessly... and all the while we grow stronger.
—Darth Nihilus to Darth Angor.
Antiquity[]
The Eliminator's first recorded use was by the ancient Sith order in the Rafleen system. The Sith were at war in the Rafleen system, where a huge army of Jedi lead by master Naale Shai, a Jedi capable of reading the minds of even the Sith, was located. The Jedi claimed vast territories and beat the Sith back, decimating their armies. The infuriated Sith masters turned to the war machine stolen from the celestials, known as the Eliminator. They took the machine to the gas planet Ghuhar, where they tested its capabilities. The weapon worked as well as the Sith masters had hoped, Ghuhar collapsed, expelling its gases into space. The collapse had not been powerful enough to form a black hole, but the Sith meant this only as a test. They assaulted the sun of Rafleen, and that operation did produce a black hole. The Jedi forces were obliterated and the Rafleen system was never seen or heard from again.
Darth Nihilus[]
The Jedi never realized what had caused the disappearance of Rafleen until the weapon was used many millennia later by Darth Nihilus and his secret apprentice, Darth Angor. Nihilus commanded Angor to unleash the weapon in front of the Jedi, and have them watch helplessly while the Sith grew stronger through their fear and dread. During the battle of Telos IV, Nihilus was killed, and Angor was left in charge of the Eliminator. Guided by his late master’s holocron, Darth Angor chose to demonstrate the powers of the Eliminator to the Jedi in the Wyyria II system, where Jedi masters gathered wisdom and younglings took their first steps into the force. Angor kidnapped a togruta youngling named Maraia, and had her watch from a window in a detention cell aboard the weapon. With a single witness to tell the Jedi tales of terror, Darth Angor activated the Eliminator once more, tearing at the central star and blasting the system to bits. The planet Wyyria II was drawn into the black hole, along with thousands of helpless Jedi, with one youngling witness to the crime. Angor dropped Maraia off near a village on Bakura, and both the dark lord and the Eliminator were never seen since. Although Maraia did tell the Jedi of this deadly crime, no proof was ever found of the Eliminator’s existence. Despite this the Jedi -as Darth Nihilus had hoped- lived in fear for centuries afterward.
Two Sith Lineage[]
After the battle of Ruusan, the Eliminator found itself in the possession of Darth Bane, who envisioned it to be passed on from generation to generation. However, Darth Millenial discovered its location whilst under the tutelage of Darth Cognus, causing him to abandon the Sith Lord in search of the weapon, which he eventually found. After this incident, the Eliminator was lost from the Sith lineage and was protected by the Prophets of the dark side for many millenia.
Galactic Empire[]
The rule of two Sith lineage passed on knowledge of the Eliminator from generation to generation. Darth Sidious had been taught of its existence by Darth Plaguis, and after he had taken control of the Galactic Republic, he set about finding the weapon. Eventually a task force seized the weapon from the Prophets of the dark side, and moved it to the planet Tirinos. By the time it had been returned to Sidious, Death Star II was already mid construction. Sidious ordered the construction of the Death Star to be halted, and for that station to be used as a trap for the rebel alliance. Instead on completing the Death Star II, the emperor ordered several improvements to be made to the eliminator's defences, including the addition of superlasers to the weapon. Darth Sidious and Darth Vader were killed, and so the Eliminator remained abandoned at Tirinos.
Darth Krayt and the Battle of Vitea[]

Sandexi's temporary destruction.
The last user of the Eliminator was the Sith Lord Darth Krayt, who used the weapon in an attempt to destroy the planet Vitea in the Sandexi system. Although Krayt did succeed in destroying the central star and consuming its energies within the giant weapon, the Eliminator was hit by a blast from the Fire of Savoir, causing it to be snared by the black hole created by the attack. The Eliminator was drawn to the centre of the hole and destroyed, releasing the star’s energies to glow once more in its place.
Legacy[]
The Eliminator performed 3 known attacks on star systems, although there may be more that have gone unnoticed. It claimed the lived of over 2 billion sentients, a low number considering its capabilities. Unlike other superweapons such as the death star, the Eliminator was used specifically to eradicate Jedi and locations strong with the light side of the force, such as Vitea. Of all the worlds destroyed, none of them were home to a significant sentient population, but they did contain a sufficient number of lifeforms to cause a sickening disturbance in the force, which Jedi from across the galaxy felt quite clearly.

The Eliminator is obliterated.
Behind the scenes[]
This weapon was originally conceived as a giant death star capable of destroying suns. It was concieved to have a violet superlaser which could split its primary beam into hundreds of miniature rays which could decimate a star fleet. The idea was changed to make something new and more of a mystery, but the death star idea was kept in the Death Fleet concept.
