In the midst of the Defense of Daispin in 149 ABY, a duel occurred between Centurion and Legate Aria Nikina and Dark Jedi Sacco Vyrak.

Both Nikina and Vyrak had been wreaking havoc on one another's armies, with Nikina's fury at the attack on her homeworld driving her into a nearly mindless slaughter of Vyrak's army. Vyrak himself led a charge into the 9th Massassi Cohort, which could not stand against his command of the Force and mastery of the dark side. Knowing they were losing critical momentum, the officers of the 9th relayed the situation to Nikina, who tore herself away from her own fight to engage Vyrak.

The duellists met in the middle of the battlefield, their armies giving them a wide berth. Initially Vyrak had the advantage, as Aria had carried her bloodlust into the duel, and the Anzat Dark Jedi was too strong to be overwhelmed. Her lack of control cost her an injury to her left arm, burning the flesh down to bone. As the battle progressed, Vyrak grew stronger from the rage he sensed in Aria's mind.

Eventually, however, Aria regained her Juyo control and reined in her emotions. Vyrak, however, continued to sink further into his instinctive, bloodthirtsy madness, becoming increasingly unhinged. Aria managed to stab him through the stomach, but Vyrak pinned both her hands, drawing her body close to his own and extending his proboscises to consume her soup. So focused was he on feeding upon such a powerful Force sensitive that he did not notice Aria telekinetically levitating her second blade behind his head. Just as Vyrak's proboscises began to work up her nose, Aria activated the second blade; the beam pierced Vyrak's brain stem and came out his forehead, killing him instantly.

Aftermath[]

Nikina herself sustained serious injuries in the duel; Vyrak scorched her left arm down to bone and broke her right wrist in his grip, and the blade she used to kill him burned her right eye. Though the eye itself was repaired, she lost sight in it.

Vyrak's army recovered his body and returned it to Desha Marad, who would use it to create the Vyrak Legions.
