This is the Dread Crown. The release of one of the installations is enough to render a continent useless to any being in the galaxy.
General Saedus to Calen Solayr.

The Dread Crown was a superweapon constructed by the Asrai cult sometime after their defeat and exile from known space by the Jedi Order. Designed as part of the habitation sphere known as the Ziz, in order to make whole planets uninhabitable to any life, it consisted of around seven or more installations that were deployed from the stucture, and from there surrounded a chosen planet, before releasing destructive beams to the surface, rending the land, vaporizing the water, and overall destroying any life-supporting atmosphere that it had. While most installations where rather small and basic, the center, control station was much larger and even had room for the likes of humans and near-humans to move around and survive in it, as well as other non-humans. Because of this importance, it was initially stored within the center of the Ziz, in contrast with the others, who were placed in special deployment chambers around the structure's base outline.

Acquired by dark side warlord Raixan Fauth shortly after the slaughtering of his people, it was a major factor in his early invasion of the galaxy, often used to threaten and terrify opponents into submission. A single installation was initially deployed during the blockade of Aranya, but was destroyed through the efforts of Calen Solayr and a crew onboard the starship Kitehawk.

The weapon was finally destroyed by groups of Jedi operatives during the Battle of Hideaway.
