Old Republic era

Dorje Sokos was a male Pantoran who lived in Isalius, Pantora's capital.

Dorje took a job as a starship mechanic immediately after finishing school. He traveled very little, preferring to remain on Pantora, but became enamored of freighter navigator Hera Tynathi. The two eventually married, though Hera continued to travel. A few years into their marriage, Dorje suffered an injury to his left arm which rendered him unable to work as a mechanic.

Dorje and Hera's son, Ayson, was born in 1,392 BBY; Dorje remained home to raise Ayson while Hera kept up work to supplement Dorje's disability income. In 1,390 BBY, Hera's freighter was attacked by a pirate convoy; all the freighter crew were killed, leaving Dorje to raise Ayson alone, despondent and bitter. He was a loving and protective but very possessive father.

In 1,387 BBY, Dorje and Ayson were on a walk in a park when they encountered the Svivreni Jedi Knight Harshee Nefkin. Harshee sensed Ayson's latent Force sensitivity, and approached the two about Ayson becoming a Jedi. Ayson was excited by the prospect, but Dorje adamantly refused, unwilling to lose his son as well and disgusted by Jedi participation in the New Sith Wars; while he had no love for the Sith, he viewed the Jedi willingness to take Padawans into battle as the brainwashing of child soldiers. Unable to persuade him, Harshee departed.

Ayson was disappointed, and Dorje was unable to explain the larger concepts at issue before more Jedi arrived. This time, however, it was Pantoran hero Tirien Kal-Di and his Zygerrian apprentice, Narasi Rican. Though disgusted to have a Zygerrian in his home, Dorje reluctantly allowed them in out of respect for Tirien's standing. He repeated his objections to the Jedi, however, and sent them on their way.

Ayson was more deeply hurt this time; he could sense the Jedi were like him, but his father—whom he loved—kept hurting him by sending the Jedi away. Dorje was deeply conflicted, and spent two nights with little sleep before the Jedi returned. This time Narasi asked to speak to him privately, and confided that, though she had been afraid and felt unloved when her mother surrendered her to the Jedi, she was in retrospect deeply grateful for the opportunities she had been given. Narasi convinced Dorje to surrender Ayson, which he did while barely holding his composure.

A year and a half later, Tirien and Narasi returned to Pantora, bearing the news Dorje had dreaded since the day Ayson left: Ayson had been killed during the Battle of Eriadu. Shattered by the news, Dorje broke Tirien's nose with a punch and threw the Jedi out.
